Some heavy fines issued to people breaking rules would help, the legislation is there but not being enforced.

Absolutely. Allow the law to be a deterrent. Enforcement is the only way.

Martin looks and sounds like a busted flush though. As much of an absolute fake that Leo was and is he pulled off an absolute genius move from a personal, party standpoint and career one handing the reigns to Martin and lurking in the shadows...Martin is well meaning, seems a decent sort but it unfortunately doesn’t look like he has the bottle or intellect for the job in the circumstances that he has it at least.

Bahrain is First World ..They are loaded.
Probably have a load of Irish specialist nurses and doctors over there and in the UAE , and being very well paid.
These examples just show separation of infected and non infected which has been done here in Ireland .
What is needed is EXTRA staff for extra ICU beds .

Bahrain is 'richer' than us, but it was actually effective leadership that was the key point, they did spend more than us initially but we will end up spending that in the long run, the way we are going.

Actually. the have trained their own and we have trained some here as well. Yes there is Irish medical staff working there, some of which expressed a wish to come home to help here.

And yes of course I know we have separated covid and covid patients here.I am not sure what you are talking about my examples did we manage to put in place a staffed 130 bed ICU here?

I have nearly every time pointed out when posting, we also need extra staff, but in emergencys you have to start working with what you have.

Do we wait for the extra staff and when we have them only start boosting capacity/building temporary ICU's?

I do feel your and other medical staff's frustration, I have friends and family working in healthcare all over this country and abroad. And I know how much harder you are working especially in thje background.

    So I will post again,

We need extra ICU staff please come home to Ireland. Please stay in Ireland if you qualify this year. Please pass this message on, all social media and also tell your TD's to sort a quicker registration process.:D

There should be fines and every Friday the people who were fined that week should be announced before the 9pm news.

Pond rats are going to pond either way and not one single fcuk would they give.
They would only love to have their names published for all the other pond rats to see.
A badge of honor for the fcukers it would be

Naw. Martin is useless, no confidence in anything he is saying, not a good speaker at all.
But Varadkar is doing rather well on Claire Byrne imo and I wouldn't be a big fan usually

I'd agree on Leo but Claire did her best trying to knock him out of his stride by butting in.

Whether you want an immediate lockdown or let the virus rip though I think we can all agree this whole thing is a fucking shambles

That interview will haunt Varadkar for the rest of his life. When numbers of cases skyrocket in the coming weeks he is finished

Not really. They can just increase the restrictions if that happens.

Why is Pascal Donohue there? He hasn't been asked anything. Pointless having him there.

Donnelly said HSE is in full communication with private hospitals. They're included in the surge plan and may be used for non-covid care. HSE have plenty of resources for ICU expansion. Basically saying that capacity not an issue.

Yeh Leo just said we don’t have money for a lockdown, there’s limits to borrowing ability, so let’s not hold our breath for money for private hospital takeovers

Do barbers and hairdressers close at Level 5?

Booked an appointment for tomorrow just in case ;)

I get the impression nothing would get Leo a decent rating in your book. Thankfully we can all watch and decide for ourselves.

I didn't vote FG but I'm very impressed with Leo since March.

I'm the same have very little time for Leo and Harris especially, but I had a lot more confidence about things while they were handling things.

Fines I agree but a roll call of shame is not going to help.

As long as they have surge capacity and can still have elective surgery then that's fine. If the extra capacity comes at a cost of elective surgery then it's gonna be a serious issue.

What are you smoking? Varadkar just did the best interview of his political career and ensured FG are now top dogs. That could have not gone any better for him.

    Great to see.

Maybe he is and always has been?

But there are a few leaving themselves open here should the virus situation continue to deteriorate.

How quickly the ones having hissy fits last night shreaking "you're a gubberment supporter because you favour a lockdown" are all now saying the gubberment is the dogs b*llox for not following NEPHET advice.

Yeah fair play to Leo, he didn't try to duck and weave. Tony's intentions may have been good but he messed up big time with the leak last night. You don't charge back in and jump from level 2 to 5 just like that.

What takeovers? They're cooperating, it's not a takeover.

Well that is Tony gone by tomorrow and more could go from NPHET. At least now all is now the governments decisions.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,066 ✭✭✭Jeff2

People seem to be posting what's on the Government Briefing and the Claire Burne show at the same time without saying where they're getting the information.

It's confusing me more than the information we officially get about Covid.

My MIL caught Covid back in April. When she went to hospital she was put in a room and the lights turned off with someone checking in on her a few times a day to see if she had died yet, no matter how you dress that up that is totally inhumane, we treat animals better than that.
I guess they never thought she would make it home to tell her family how she had been treated, it took her 10 weeks to recover and recover she did mainly due to her stubbornness and will to live as apposed to how she was cared for.

Whoa! Your MIL was taken into hospital ill with Covid and she left healed. And you're trying your hardest to find fault with the people who healed her? You don't suspect that someone who was so ill with Covid that they required hospital treatment, may not have been aware enough at all times to know what was being done?

They should just refer to MM as Interim Taoiseach.
