I fail to see how Jack Byrne could be any sort of liability here. He really is our best chance in bringing on any sort of creativity. The 3 CMs at the minute are too slow to get it to our most threatening players.

Hope Kenny has the bottle to go for it and bring Byrne on.

The game is screaming out for someone like him. We're losing control of this one.

Interesting from Mick on commentary that McCarthy never turned up for games under him due to injury or whatever else

Slovakia having all the play. Don't see where the goals would be coming from with Ireland. Doesn't look promising, but as long as it's 0-0, there's always hope. That scoreline probably won't last much longer, though.

If level at 90....Extra time and penalties?

Ireland are a really poor side now. Dont look like they have a goal in them.

Surprised with McLean going off, I know he was on a yellow but was playing very well.

I think Damien Rice is worth a shot!

The problem with Ireland playing a passing game is the players are not really skilled enough to play consistently good passes. Exhibit A, that stupidity we just witnessed.

    Double substitution
    Rice and Grealish on

Professional footballers can pass the ball. It's about composure. Thats what we've always lacked. Learning not to let pressure panic you into making foolish passes.

Slovakia aren’t exactly world beaters either.

Yeah; there was one stage at the start of the second half one of our defenders instead of clearing the ball decided to pass across the face of our whole defense to the left back despite Slovakian attackers 2 feet away

That's maby the best build up we've had in a decade

Fack. That was a great chance. Looked like he was falling back, needed to be hit much lower.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,329 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Great ball by Stephens to pick out Browne, should've scored from there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,401 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

We'd be winning by at least 5 if Jack Byrne started.

    damn it

Has to go across the goalie there. Encouraging. Doherty and stevens at their best when attacking.

McGoldrick is being allowed to assume a very influential role here. Fair enough if it works out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,522 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

Brady so one-footed. Has to whip that on his right.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,820 ✭✭✭smelly sock

Come on lads. Bit of belief kicking in. Every bit as good as them.keep it wide and we have them in trouble.

They can pass the ball, sure, but not all of them can do it to a degree which makes them competitive at international level.

Yep notice that too. Still id prefer him to stay up the field rather than dropping so deep.
