A few years ago I had sorted an elderly relative with a €10 prepay per month to make calls only and the few texts would come out of an extra couple of euros credit. I only discovered that at some stage this changed to €10 every 14 days. He told me he got a text and accepted.

I see on the website that he must have got changed to a Simply Talk plan. I see on the website there is a €10 prepay plan for calls every 28 days. How do I change this?

    Discussion about it here...

There's no choice, the plan he is on is being changed to 10e every 14 days.

When you say he accepted it, what does that mean? I doubt there was an acceptance step...he probably just read it and no action required. The change comes into force on 9th November. If his plan duration has been cut already then there's some error.

    Choices now are....
    - 48 for 8e per month PAYG (check coverage)
    - Eir 200 mins PAYG add on for 9.99

Check if that add on is available in myeir, it can also be bought via text.

48 is obviously the better option if signal is sufficient. 48 plan has 10k mins and 10k texts.

He's 84 so hard to know what happened.

My kids are on 48 so I have ordered a sim for him. I'm hoping there's no issue with it being a simple button phone as he can't handle internet.

Any phone will work. To check signal, try a phone in 2G mode and check if calls can be made and taken at his location. Or put a 48 SIM in his phone to check that it works, borrow one from the kids.

Order a recruit SIM via 'my48' so that both SIMs get free credit to the value of plan cost (7.99).
