Hope it makes the news this evening.
I follow him and his dad on Instagram, seem humble and driven so delighted they've had success on the back of hard work.

    Just for context.
Oisin is a first year junior.
He has never raced a World Cup.
    And he is World Champion.
    Amazing.

Fantastic achievement Oisin, you have done your country proud! :)

A brilliant run against stiff competition in tough conditions

Covid or no covid - it has been a good year for Irish cyclists in fairness! :D

Interview with Oisin on Wyn TV at 22.50; for some reason the link doesn't seem to be linking up to the time as it's about 10/15 seconds back.

Way back in 2011 the legend that was Richie Byrne (and against other peoples better judgement ... myself included) let an 8 year old start the full EPIC Blast as long as he didn't start until everyone else was gone and that his Dad did it with him! No prizes for guessing who the 8 year old was ... Richie's legacy still burns strong!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OaQgaYBko8

They reckoned he passed 50-60 riders on his way down even then!!

Himself and his dad have put in unbelievable work to get here. I remember seeing them doing lap after lap with timing and tweaking bike setup in bikepark Ireland (R.I.P.). He was picked out of hundreds of applicants to get into the YT mob.

I never knew there was such an event in Ballinastoe, they should bring something similar back, remnants of the course are still there.
Amazing to see the difference in scenery though, from areas that were open to now forested and other area's that have been felled in recent years.

That event caused a lot of heartache for the people involved in organising, sadly won't get permission to do that again - well not on the same course.

This gives a good flavour of the event .... good times! Unfortunately the landowner didn’t agree!

Looks epic! better weather than the video of Oisin. Sounds like there's a lot of good stories behind them, only into it about 5yrs so they weren't on my radar at all.

There's a World Cup Race on in Maribor, Slovenia, tomorrow.
    Qualifying was this morning.
In the Junior race Oisin O'Callaghan qualified in 1st place.
    The lad is on fire.

Steve Peat had a live instagram video going a couple of hours ago and looked like it was miserably wet - at least from the finish area; was p1ssing it down.

Oisin has won the Junior World Cup in Maribor.
    He crashed and still won.

My son is in Maribor filming for Vital MTB.
He sent me a little clip, but I can't post it.
Oisin crashed on an off camber rooty section, near the bottom and had a little difficulty getting going again.
His jersey is ripped at the right shoulder. He is not injured.

Red bull TV are showing Elite Women and Men live, later on.
Read Bull have the TV rights, but I don't think there will be much footage of the Juniors available.
