They ruled out coalition with each other prior to the election too btw.

    FF did not FG.

Both FF and FG categorically ruled out any deal with SF before the election. Martin wavered a bit in the immediate aftermath of the election but reverted to the party line. How is SF's 'intransigence' in any way responsible for this?

Because the actual history will be rewritten by these guys to mask the cynicism of the power swap's antics.

Lets gloss over the complete lies the power swap told their electorate about what they would do and what they actually did in the end...the old sleeveen political way.
They performed the now familiar parody of themselves to be honest.

    FF did not FG.

Well I'd say one sort of negates the other happening, but it happened anyway.
But mostly because no one was interested in going in with SF for whatever reason?
Either that or SF weren't really interested themselves despite their rhetoric?

Martin opened the door when he thought he had the higher number of seats Bish.

He was interested therefore. You are in denial.

no one was interested in going in with SF for whatever reason?

Well if that was FF's and FG's position and they stuck to it, then the 'reason' doesn't matter, there was nothing SF could do about it.

Martin opened the door when he thought he had the higher number of seats Bish.

He was interested therefore. You are in denial.

Martin didn't open the door to Sinn Fein, he never mentioned them.

You interpret Martin's reflection on the option as being opening the door. That is an opinion you are entitled to hold, but others are also entitled to have different interpretations and different opinions. Repeating your opinion doesn't make it any more valid.

Your opinion of what happened is the outlier.

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/election-2020/martin-opens-the-door-to-coalition-with-sinn-fein-38941313.html

And the paper of record, The Irish Times:
Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has opened the door to entering government with either Sinn Féin or Fine Gael, saying he is a “democrat” who listens “to the people”.

Newspapers make news of something. Martin made absolutely clear later he was never going to speak to Sinn Fein.

That paper didn't refuse ink doesn't change my analysis or opinion.

Edit: Actually the Irish Times may have interpreted him completely wrong. By saying he as a democrat, Martin was implicitly rejecting Sinn Fein, a party he has repeatedly called undemocratic.

Folk going nuts on the radio. New HSE ad claiming all the 70 or older are vaccinated, seems they're not. People in their 70's, 80's and 90's left thinking they've been missed.

The fact is, as stated, your opinion of events is the outlier.

Safe to say that my back-up is coming from 3 of the biggest political commentators on the island.

Martin, opened the door to Sinn Fein.

Some extraordinary take downs from ordinary people of the lies being told for PR purposes.

What “lies” are being told, a chara.

They've been playing games with Covid for some time.

It's a nonsense to suggest all 70+ are vaccinated here, my parent in-laws are both over 70, neither are vaccinated as of this morning.

Where does it say that, Randle.

Did you bother your barney reading the post I not only replied to, but even quoted?

What “lies” are being told, a chara.

The one referenced in the post I quoted.
New HSE ad claiming all the 70 or older are vaccinated, seems they're not. People in their 70's, 80's and 90's left thinking they've been missed.

The claim in the ad repudiated by doctors and members of the public, 'Every single call to the show was saying it was nonsense' according to the show's host.

Now, we are supposed to rely on Talk to Joe or Niall Boylan for our hard information. Some poster on here is going on about some HSE ad or other, yet they have failed to provide a link to the ad.

I haven’t heard the advert, but the date is mid April.
“In April, May and June, it is expected that Ireland will administer three million vaccine doses, with four in five adults having received at least one dose of vaccine by the end of June. Vaccination of those aged over 70 continues, with all aged over 70, almost half a million people, to have received their first dose by mid-April.”

So fake news again from the usual anti-government sources!!

The Ad specifically states that they have completed the first part of the vaccination programme...hence the callers saying they patently haven't.

It's not some HSE ad or other, it's a HSE ad making false claims.
How would you find a link to an ad Blanch? It was featured in the Joe Duffy show. Are you accusing RTE Radio one of lying and broadcasting false claims? That's two conspiracy theories in 24hrs.

    RTE? :D

    The lengths you'll go to...

    What ad?

We have asked several times for a link to the ad, but none has been provided. We have the official government statement which doesn't say that. So there is fake news coming from somewhere.

Firstly, you never once asked. Secondly, see above.

That would be the HSE. I posted about it.

It's very Q-Anon/fake news to automatically think conspiracy and well 'fake news', especially from RTE IMO.

Are you seriously denying that you have not heard the latest Government covid ad on every single Radio channel. It's played at every single ad break throughout the day, where they claim they have vaccinated all the over 70's and frontline workers. Just find it hard to believe you have not heard that.

Duffy played it over and over on his show today. You can hear it here: 034.50

I've a feeling we'll hear no more about it.

    I've heard the add
    Its wording is misleading
What it should say is it has offered all the over 70's a vaccine
For whatever reason some will not take it up,or wont have been contacted
Theres a sugery in Naas which Duffy highlighted a few weeks back where the lead doctor is anti vax
If you are a customer of one like that, you might never know
The portal supposedly coming at the end of April is a good idea and works well in the North
You can take direct action once you are eligible versus waiting for your own surgery to call you

That would also be misleading. There are people have not been offered. You'd need contact someone to offer.

Anyway was pointing out the flaw with the ad and it is making a false claim.
