    To this..

The opposition are doing their job. The government are not. Aside from covering their arses and covering up anything that might damage their (FF/FG) reputations, the government are supposed to be representing the public on all things. FF/FG don't work like that it seems.

The Opposition are doing their jobs, go figure :D.
By definition what is the oppositions job...... Oppose :D:D

The opposition are having a field day on this coalition of chaos. They are ripping them to shreds in the Dail.
I'd say they are struggling to keep up with the weekly, sometimes daily, debacles. The SDs have been particularly impressive.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

    As for Boyd Barrett pfff.

You want to handwave Boyd Barrett away because of who he is, the fact that he is an actual product of the mother/baby home controversy doesn't matter because it's "Boyd Barrett, pfffft"

Interesting to see you go from faux concern to whimsy on the issue. It's not that the opposition are standing up for members of the public, which is every parties job by the way, it's that you infer that the opposition only care as much about the issue as you seem to, to use as political chaff.
FG cynical and uncaring attitude all over.

The fact that he is an actual product of a mother/baby home doesn't mean he has the first clue about any of the issues that were before the Dail.

In fact, going by his ability over the last few years, he probably doesn't have a clue.

It suggests he might have a passing interest above just looking for something to tackle government over, right?
Maybe he does have a clue? Who knows?

I wonder were his parents among those that gave evidence on condition that it remained undisclosed?

I wonder if he knew when the Lockdown was due to begin?

This flute didn't, despite him being part of the cabinet that implemented it. :D

Thanks to FF/FG he'll need wait 30 years to find out.
Maybe his birth mother spent decades trying to track him down? Who knows? Not really the point Maryanne but it would absolve FF/FG if they all were, unlikely though.
Surely they can keep those sealed and release others?

When kids are adopted the birth parents can choose to be found or ask records be sealed. It's not that complicated if you're willing.

I know of a few who have tracked down their parents before now, how'd they manage that?
    None of that will stop.
Stop trying to score points on other people's miseries or hardships, like good fellows.

    What legal advice is that?
I know the Minister acted on the AG advice.

    Breaking news.

Government breaking the law by sealing mother and baby homes records, says DPC

The Government has contravened European and Irish law on the accessibility of personal data by voting to seal the records of mother and baby homes for 30 years, according to the Data Protection Commission (DPC).

The Data Protection Commission was consulted by the Department of Children ahead of the drafting of the new mother and baby homes bill regarding the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) it had commissioned concerning the legislation.

How dare you try turn your dismissive disinterest on me. You and your party should be ashamed of yourselves.

There’s nothing stopping child or parent looking for each other! That’s not what this is about!

    U-Turn iminent?

    Not so Francie.
That is new certainly so it's something to be considered.
It was apparently a concern of the Minister but still with the AG thinking differently he proceeded.
If the legislation wasn't passed and the files redacted things would be in a desperate mess.
As of now that is only opinion also btw.

A problem was found with a product and it was withdrawn as a result. Sooooo, what’s the problem?

    U-Turn imminent?

    Possibly.

Or maybe they'll hire some lawyer to tell them what they want to hear, blanch has details of a few in his Filofax I hear.

    Big deal........

Lot of anger out there...... this is a load of rubbish.

Problem detected.... product withdrawn ...... end of story.

The usual suspects roaring and shouting....media takes the baton.... refuted.

Nothing to see .... move along ..

Or perhaps the Govt appointed AG told the Government what they want to hear? You can get told whatever you want to hear by legal reps if you've the moolah apparently.

No roaring and shouting...just added cringe that he has to be dragged in to explain why he sat on the info.

Senior hurling is not their game.
