Looks like the poor mites might need better advisors.

So they'd no option but to vote as they did, (which begs the question 'why have a vote if it's already set?') and everyone is big ejits for questioning it. Now it looks like they broke the law.
So why the rush? And now what?
IMO, making a claim here, based on what we know and who the players are, conspiracy theory for defo; FF/FG were in a rush to cover their collective arses. Hopefully they get found out and ran out. Even those of their supporters who don't care much for the Irish public might care for this issue.
    The Greens, willful gillys, again.

Absolute mess. Handed to a green Green and he made a hames of it all and his own party. Will small parties never learn, having any truck with the power swap if you are weak spells decimation. Will the Greens have anyone left after 5 years?

Rodders has done a good deed unknowingly too, I don't believe Leo suffered any wrath today on here, has he been mentioned even?
    Praise be to God.

They government partners have really hung O'Gorman out to dry. Not one comment in support of O'Gorman from the leaders of FF, FG or even his own party the Greens. Martin who was in the cabinet at the time the original legislation was enacted hasn't issued any statement backing up O'Gorman they are running from this like rats from a sinking ship. The Greens has been shafted again in government by FF and now FG as well.

    Big deal........

Lot of anger out there...... this is a load of rubbish.

Problem detected.... product withdrawn ...... end of story.

The usual suspects roaring and shouting....media takes the baton.... refuted.

Nothing to see .... move along ..

None of the posters on here shouting have a clue about the issue, neither does Coppinger or most of the opposition in the Dail.

Without this law, the government could have been forced to destroy the documentation, as just one person challenging the right to keep their testimony which they agreed to give on condition of anonymity could have forced that. The legislation prevents the destruction of the evidence. That is the necessary first step and had to be done before 30 October.

The conflict between GDPR and the 2004 Act, and the varying legal opinions needs more time to be figured out - this law allows for that.

There has been nothing to see all along, but that didn't stop empty vessels from clanging around.

Like the DPC? Like the most important people, the public? I know they seem like ants from up on Fine Gael mountain but they're the important people not politicians in a hurry, for some reason, to sideline and ignore them, you know, those they represent.
You've all the answers? You must be the only one. You wouldn't be a lawyer paid to tell people what FF/FG want them to hear would you?
Lot of covering of arses out there...FF/FG...always FF/FG...

It's the new Maria Bailey swing gate. Nothing to see here, move along! Of course the same empty vessels told us that back then.

For a nothing issue it is certainly getting a lot of focus surely the government supporters on here haven't misread the mood of the electorate again. Remember when they said golfgate was a nothing story, these folks either have their heads up their asses or they really don't give a crap about the country only having their snouts in the troth like good little piggies.

The irony is that if the Maria Bailey scandal had never happened, FG would have won 55-60 seats in GE20, Leo would be Taoiseach of a government that is dominated by FG. I imagine Martin would not longer be FF leader and Mary Lou would have 15 less seats at least. In a sense Bailey put the final nail in Civil War politics. Fascinating really.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Some days it's as well to sit back and enjoy the circle jerk of the little piggies with no bread or butter.

Here’s the thing Bish, maybe these little piggies are smarter than we think.

They share the trough with the bigger fatter piggies, big loud fookhers who get the ‘good turnips’, while their nosh isn’t quite a filling.

However every now and again they see the big lorry pulling in loading up and you know something, they never come back after all their heavy lifting.

The little piggies are still rooting away in the background, nice and warm, fed nicely, make an odd grunt and squeal about things but make sure they
don’t ‘pack on the bacon’ to bring them to forefront for the lorry spin.

Smart buckos, them lads,as one lad grunted “We are fine here, lie back and we’ll get to seven of eight anyway”

    Enough for any smart pig.

Tbh, ignoring anything else here, the DPC complains about everything. Occasionally have dealings with them in work and no matter what you do, they say it's wrong. They're on a power trip up there imo

Looks like another rush to establish a toothless tribunal.

"Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Ms Phelan said it is exactly one year since then taoiseach Leo Varadkar delivered an apology to the women and those affected by the controversy and they felt heard.

Today, she said, they feel anything but heard.

She said the 221+ group met Mr Donnelly and members of his department about seven weeks ago and raised a number of issues and left feeling encouraged that there would be further consultation.

However, she said, they were left "reeling in shock" to receive a letter two days later rejecting all of their concerns and confirming the imminent establishment of the tribunal."

That name struck me as well - “Queer Greens”

Firstly because I don’t see how someone’s sexuality is relevant to being a public servant, secondly because if it is then it omits the other sexual preferences that exist and thirdly I would have been fairly sure that calling a homosexual a queer would be considered wrong, then again it’s probably fair to say in the current world that no matter what word you use there will be somebody what will take offence.

There should really be an official List of worlds that you can and cannot use.

Yes, can't debate the issue, so divert to attacking the poster for his political beliefs. I have your number every time.

    Attacking the poster?

    Where is the attack?

You have Green party (you say you vote for them) members resigning over this. You called people who objected to what the government did here 'empty vessels'. I simply asked you f that included the members of the Greens who object to this?

You labelled everyone 'empty vessels'. Every single person who had issue with the vote.
    You are some hypocrite.
