Some of the "open up" crowd were championing Czech Republic saying Ireland should follow their lead.

No it was the lockdown crew who were championing Czechs and how well they were doing in April/May. It only delayed the inevitable.

Because the numbers are next to non-existent, the gym I'm in limits its members to 50 per session, it's a big well ventilated building with good space around benches and machines.

Its excellent for mental health as well as physical health.

Also gyms are not a place you'd feel like going if not feeling 100%, have you ever tried to squat 100kg with flu like symptoms?....me neither.

You had the last 8 months to get a home gym.

Would it be viable for gyms to stay open, given they would have to restrict numbers, employ extra staff to sanitise equipment, lockers etc. after each use ?

So you'll still be able to meet other people away from their house.

If you can only afford junk it's too bad.

But really, you want to socialise then.

Well the HSE decided to unwind testing here and did not plan for the winter.

    No excuses.fcuk sky.
The country riddled with covid.People dead and others in hospitals.half the country facing unemployment.
There isn’t a pitch in the country would hold a match today anyway with all the rain got and the evening short.
    Jokeshop of a set up

It's ok, calm down. They tend to not play senior intercounty matches on a Monday night on a dark October anyway. Not since 1908 and the North Midlands contagious scutter syndrome.

I've never tried to squat! I doubt they could stay open with 50 per session at the moment, and as we all now know, we can be infectious before we feel symptoms or never develop symptoms at all.

    These C*nts are a f**king joke.
It’s maddening how people’s lively hoods are being f**ked up because of the inaction of these w**nkers in power.

They had the chance back after the first lockdown To eradicate the virus when we were in single digits.

But they did nothing, Kn*ackers arriving everywhere , tourists doing what they like , borders wide open on the pretence that they had to keep them open to keep business going but here we are again shutting Businesses down ruining the bloody country.

All they had to do was lock the borders , Ban tourists, business travellers, Mandatory quarantine and test for anybody arriving in and penalties for not doing so.

But they couldn’t do it or didn’t have the balls.

I rarely get mad at politics, I just bury my head in the sand usually, because it’s a waste of time.
It’s the good law Abiding people that get shafted as always In this country while the chosen few do what they like.

Sums up how I'm feeling for sure. We were in a good position after our lockdown but our government absolutely fcuking blew it and now we find ourselves on the doorstep of another lockdown. The virus probably can't be eradicated but virus cases could have been kept low by some proper management.

That's the way it is now in some places I know of, limited numbers, day split up in segments with online booking, members need towels and wipes, showers closed and members to turn up in gym wear.

It's not a royal rumble scenario.

Most countries in Europe are having the same issues as us, and our infection rate is lower than most of them.

It's easy to criticise, but only a tiny number of countries worldwide have succeeded in keeping numbers low.

Do you have a coffee table? Lift it up and down twenty times a day.

Do you have a bath? Flop around it like a beached dolphin for 20 minutes a day.

Less costly, less dangerous and a lot more fun.

Oh, I don't doubt that most places are ran excellently and beyond compliance and those attending are more likely to be health conscious but 50 is way too many. Hopefully in a few weeks.....

Congrats to the lockdown contingent among us. Enjoy the 6 weeks. Will you give us a week or two off before you start asking for the next one?

Is it just me who thinks this shouldn’t be coming through the media ? The information should be given by a Government briefinf with clear concise and information guidelines

Best of luck with thinking that, although I totally agree with you.

The leaking, the mixed messages and so on have us driven demented. Say what you like about Vlad, but he is a good communicator if a bit OTT at times. The current Taoiseach is not. Therein lies a big problem.

Sick of all the bits and pieces coming through Twitter each more hysterical than the last. It's like a competition to be first with the news. Fed up of all of them, they can feck right off now. :P

In spaces the size of football pitches not really. Windows wide open and equipment well separated there's plenty of room.

GAA is probably going ahead because they have a tv contract with Sky

That's no reason. Especially now considering the games or the aftermath of the games is leading to spread of virus.

I'm sure many people had contracts this year that went to the wall. One example would be the brides and grooms due to get married this year. They usually sign contracts to book a venue and other things.
