Robbie Keane appointed manager of LA Galaxy.

    It’s being reported in Ireland that Robbie Keane is to return to LA Galaxy to take over as the MLS club’s manager. In a Sun exclusive, Gary Stonehouse reports that the 40-year-old, who spent five years at LA Galaxy as a player, has agreed to take over Guillermo Barros Schelotto, who was fired earlier this week. Keane currently earns €250,000 per annum from the FAI, despite not being part of Stephen Kenny’s management team.

    The former striker was part of Mick McCarthy’s coaching team, but Kenny chose not to have him on his when he succeeded McCarthy during lockdown. Despite having no managerial experience, Robbie will have his work cut out for him in LA – Galaxy are currently bottom of the MLS Western Conference after 16 games.

    Best of luck to him with it. Tough job to start your career with, but he's familiar with the club and the MLS so hopefully that will stand to him.

    Hopefully this takes him off the FAI payroll if he's still on it.
