About 3 hours, between bringing them in, feeding calves, washing up etc. Should be a good match on at 8.

Live stream of the Iceland volcano eruption.

A few hours ago people were casually flying in with helicopters going out for the stroll and up to the spew point.

Great send off for CJ Stander yesterday, it was nice for him to finish up on a good result against England, weve had a bad run again them recently. He always seems a really decent man.
The local SA agri salesmen must be rubbing their hands together at the thought of all those euros being ploughed into the home farm.

Pup here has started chasing our hens. Caught her with one in her mouth yesterday

I know of a woman who’s dog was constantly at her hens and she tried everything. Finally after killing another one, she tied the dead hen someway around the dogs neck and left it for a fairly long time. As the hen was decomposing it got very smelly. The dog must have got well sick of the thought of chicken After that cause it never dine it again

She was after another one this morning. It's very hard to catch her when she knows you're annoyed at her.

whelan2, I’m picturing you tearing around the farmyard with a wooden spoon :D

Morning all. It’s gorgeous out this morning. Maybe I’m going soft but anyone else think that the daffodils are particularly beautiful this year. They seem to be everywhere. Nearing the end of the calving and it’s gone well. Took on a young lad to help out at weekends and he’s a breath of fresh air about the place. He’s not from a farming background but is great with the animals and eager to learn. When these restrictions are lifted the mother is going to love giving him the breakfast. She talks for Ireland and the father and myself would be fairly quiet fellas. I’m looking forward to being at a chatty breakfast table again. I’m also looking forward to the return of Line of Duty tonight. Hope they don’t make my Kelly a baddie or worse, kill her off too soon. Have a good day lads!

Just read there about the Ifa calling out Lidl and Aldi about the branding on their milk. I can see the ifa’s point but I think it isn’t really a problem as such, especially when all Aldi and Lidl stuff is own brand. Also Lidl and Aldi seem to be two of the more farmer friendly supermarkets. Think the Ifa picked a wrong fight here

Yea, really disappointing, both supermarket chains buy a lot of Irish lamb from ICM and have it on the shelves in Germany as well.

It's the more near term is the problem. Should be ok from the end of April on.

You're correct, the two German cos are good buyers in Ireland.

I was spreading dung today on silage ground to ensure people stayed in their houses.

Didn't work though, I was in a field beside the road and the road was busier than ever. Groups of five and six chromed motorcycles out on the Sunday drive passing by.

Mission failed. I'll try once more tomorrow again before the forecasted rain comes.
    Has to be done.

I was in the local Aldi this evening to get humanitarian supplies for herself who is under the weather. I was lucky enough to be in there at the same time as a number of our colourful native ethnic minority, clad only in PJ's, although some did sport dressing gown over coats, 100% not maintaining social distance with anyone, and not a mask in sight despite packs of ten being available at the till they were annexing by up bringing one item of shopping to at a time from the rest of the store.

Things are very doubtful for the summer, I reckon it'll be Sept/Oct before anything will be opened fully.

I was thinking the same, its own brand like every supermarket has, a made up farm name doesn't make much of a difference, I'd say everyone knows its own brand despite not being in a carton that says lidl/aldi

I think you over estimate general population's knowledge or interest in food supply chains.
Our culture doesn't value food, it's just value without values.

What do they propose should happen when your Co Op collects milk both sides of the border, and has processing plants in both jurisdictions?
Depending on supply, time of year etc. milk collected in Fermanagh could be processed in Omagh, Killeshandra, Bailieboro Monaghan or Newtownards.
Likewise with milk collected in Cavan, Monaghan etc.
