Haven't seen one horse fly this year. Maybe because of the cold May? Very few flies of any description this year.

Really?......... I've been eaten alive here the last few days. Would you like some shiped down to you? I could spare a few million.

Youngest lad off to fai camp this morning. He's 13 and was up at 7 all excited. Camp starts at 10. Left him off at half 9. There was loads there before him

    They love these summer camps.
Daughter is same age and is booked into a pony camp with her pony later in the week. She had a fall last week and is still sore so it’s not yet decided if she can go. After looking forward for months. She has pony clipped and groomed within an inch of its life anyway in hopes of going.

We have it a year this week.
Nobody in the family knew squat abkut equine care, she had been doing lessons for four years.

We struck a deal that she would do the AIRE training amd exams in the stables so at least someone knew something about looking after a pony, it also was to test commitment. That took a little over a year.

At six the pony is young and so has a bit of sas, but in general it goes well.

The whole thing scares the life out of me sometimes, she’s great and always wears her full protective gear, but still, accidents happen.

She broke her Arm in a fall at the stables, amd she’s in A&E today as she’s still sore from the fall last week.

That's super information Brian, appreciate it.

We are a few years away from getting one, but its great to see what others have done...

    Thanks...

Just walked as kane scired, handy goal. Football's coming home....not too many big teams left now

Matches last night were great. The Eng/Germany game was like being constipated sitting on the loo and straining. Grealish made the diff with his two assists. Comment was made last night that with the number of subs allowed, managers were bringing on fast forwards, up against tired backs. That may have been Southgate's plan or he was just lucky.

Yeah - probably the worst German team for 30 years. The English press will be insufferable now for the next few days and god help us if they win it!!:(

PS: Also tough to watch 3 lads with strong Irish connections combine for the second goal:mad:

Moving cows here this evening and one lady caught side of herself on a bit of metal there is a 3 inch long gash but no blood it took the top layer off so i can see her next layer. She went off eating and seems ok. I'll get to her with Alamycin spray tomorrow but anything else I can do for her?

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,552 ✭✭✭✭whelan2

On that type of wound I would use aluspray if you have it as it keeps the flies out.

Would you be better with both, one to help heal and one to seal.

Healing comes from the inside and not from topical treatment. Topical treatment only helps to prevent external infection.

Will aluminum help much with external infection compared to alamycin?

No as it isn't an antibiotic spray but at this time of the year when flies are ferocious I would opt for aluspray or sudocrem for a surface skin wound and as I posted previously it's better at preventing external infections such as fly strike. Some farmers are hung up on going in with antibiotics as the primary treatment be them topical sprays or injections when it's not always necessary.

I forget to say that Iodine is also equally effective for treating surface wounds.

Got this from a U.K. caravan supplier I’ve dealt with before.

It must be hurting business there shockingly.

Yeah, I was looking for a few bits for the Land Cruiser lately. Milner's wanted a esri (?) number. Roughtrax have stopped shipping to EU altogether. It would be interesting to see how the VAT on items over e22 effect trade now too from today onwards compared to the first half of the year.

If they will send to NI (especially of it's free delivery) then it's workable....
