The ould lad got a book on the local history. And theres a picture overlooking our ground and I said that was taken a while ago. Ah no my dad says it was only taken in 1974!!
Theres trees in the picture that were cut, replanted and ready to be cut again!!

An older neighbour relayed to me recently that he remembered helping save hay in an adjoining piece of ground now afforested. This land was planted, harvested and the second timber crop is now approaching maturity. His point being that he knew he was getting old when he'd witnessed all this and still remembered what it was like beforehand.

I don't mind as long as I'm not sitting on top of it with you.

OH bought me a pb Shorthorn bull a few weeks ago. I bought him a new set of rain gear. His old ones are five years old and are wearing out.

Is there such a thing as a reliable budget chainsaw? I'd be exaggerating if I said I was an occasional user, it's much less than that! A chainsaw would be handy for a few small jobs, I want to split a few hundred posts lengthways to support tree guards. Be handy for trimming and shaping posts fencing as well. My old saw is beyond saving. I don't be cutting trees or logs.

The ProPlus chainsaw is a nice weighted saw.
I have mine a few years now with no issues.

The way I would approach it is to go to your local small engine shop and see what they have. At least they will have parts backup and it can be repaired when you need it.
They may also have a reconditioned 2nd hand that they will warranty at a fraction of the price of a new one. I tried that 10 years ago and got a 1 year old stihl ms390 for 50% the price of a new one. It has been bulletproof ever since.

Question to a point on another thread
Reseeding in its self is no panacea to improve grass land management. IMO getting land fertility righ is the first key issue. PH and adequate NPK will.inctease grass output by 40-50% even on old swards. Spraying for weeds can I crease output by 20-40% in fields and meadows where there is large infestation of docjs, nettle and thistles. Mowing rushes if possible can be another effective method of controlling them

Agree getting the management & fertility right is the first and main thing
But for land not ploughed in generations would ploughing to open the soil

Git caught rightly one night out running. Went down a road and a fella was pulling beet. Was too far on to turn back.

The road was destroyed and so was I by the end of it

I've just polished off the last of the white wine, and the Christmas pudding with about a quarter pint of cream. Now for a cup of tea.

Lovely documentary on about Liam Og O'Flynn on TG4 there, really enjoyed it. TG4 always seems to save the day for me as I've only got the saorview stations and the other stations can be pure muck sometimes.

I figure I'm done with this shop local nonsense, apart from bulky or heavy items. I bought some nice whiskey as presents this year, cost €75 a bottle online here in Ireland. Coincidentally herselfs mother bought me the same bottle for a Christmas present, I said you shouldn't have spent so much on me. She reckoned she didn't. Tonight she tells me she bought it on a Spanish site for €42.50!

I bought 5. For the price of 5 in Ireland I could have bought 8.8 (.8 yeah I know) from Spain.

I'll take Mary Harneys advice, shop around!
