I don't know how Rocky didn't end up the winner, but sure....

Edit: I forgot to say, it was great fun regardless of the unwelcome result. So thanks for doing it Kolido!

That being said two damn fine film songs made it to the final and a totally deserved close final vote too.

Thank Kolido for all the hard work.

lala la la... going have that in my head all evening...

On a personal note: one of MY favourite song's from a movie is Mumford & Sons - The Enemy from Wuthering Heights.
& Wuthering Heights is now on Netflix:)

Thanks for a great deal of effort Kol. Really out-do yourself time after time. I have never seen The Breakfast Club but I think I might just check it out in honour of this win.

  • Registered Users Posts: 207 ✭✭Hallaz

Although I voted for Stand By Me I felt I was backing the runner up.
It's the song i remember that encouraged me to listen to music from before i was born such was its impact on me.

I've only watched Breakfast Club recently so it didn't have the lasting memory that Stand by Me but it's a very strong winner.

Surprised Eye of the Tiger didn't make it to final or Bee Gees Stayin Alive (marvelous Soundtrack) get further.
Thoroughly engaged on seeing how far some songs were going to get in particular the songs from O Brother Where art thou? and Aladdin.

On a quick search of last 8
    4 songs from the 80s
    1 each from 60, 70, 90, and 00

Was it the best decade for soundtracks or is it profiling the voters ages?!

Really good choices out there and a few movies i'm now inspired to watch!
and finally well done Kolido, top work.

Afraid the weekend for me was a beer fueled blurr of big box/little box and big ball/little ball/Oval ball.

    Definitely a Worthy winner.

Not one that really occurred to me at the outset. But a song I voted for in several of the earlier rounds without hesitation.

Very surprised that Pixies -Where is my mind? Didn't feature more prominently.

Also perhaps if Sean Connery had been more obliging and kicked the bucket a week earlier.... James Bond theme or Highlander songs might have been more prominent.

Thanks Kolido for doing all the grunt work.

I'm going to let you guys decide on the next contest I run if you would like to vote.

    Greatest album cover art

    or

    Greatest movie scene

    Appreciate any votes or feedback

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,882 ✭✭✭tusk

    Movie Scene!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,509 ✭✭✭Purgative

Kol, I'll join in whatever - I have a gap in my schedule for a couple of weeks. Film clips sounds like a lot of fun and we might all discover some hidden gems.

I can see a couple of problems with the album art thing:

    - not such a thing since CDs and down loads.
    - I'd have scratch my bonce for albums I owned years ago

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,517 ✭✭✭✭Deja Boo

I vote movie scene.... as I don't know any album covers :o

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,943 ✭✭✭✭the purple tin

    Film scenes I say :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,712 ✭✭✭Sawduck

Greatest movie scene would be epic

    Could be. Could be massive.

    - maybe broken down into 4 to 8 categories (I hesitate to say genres)??
    - maybe the clip has to be available on YouTube? I don't know are there other possibilities?

    Just my 2cents.

I was gonna say I wouldn't have any nominations for the Art cover at all, but I'd really love anyone in the know, to throw out some nominations with a little explanation about the cover. Could be very interesting & I might learn a thing or two:).

Although the Greatest Movies Scene's seems like it could be a brilliant game.

I'll be ready with my voting card either ways:cool:

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,366 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I will probably run both anyways but I will probably start with the movie scenes as suggested here.

As Purgative mentioned, clips would need to be on youtube or another free and legal site. Format suggestions welcomed, I will have a nominations thread up by the end of the week.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,882 ✭✭✭tusk

I've already got my noms ready :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,366 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Fire them over if you want, add a link though if you can. Same for everyone, PM noms if you have them ready.
