Mardle is beyond awful as a commentator, regardless of who's on with him

Don't get the hate for Mardle tbh, he's a very knowledgable guy too.

There's definitely sense within the waffle but sometimes I find myself having listened to him talk for several minutes without making any actual sense at all.

Perfect example in the last game, comparing suljovics play to parking the bus in soccer. That doesn't make any sense at all and he's just talking for talkings sake.

Delighted for Ando. That wink to the camera was a sign of a man knowing he was gonna push through.

The only reason he got the Sky gig was because he used to swing a few inflatable palm trees around when walking to the stage. He won nothing of note in the PDC, got into the Premier League on a few occasions when he didn't deserve to but because he might put a few extra bums on seats ala Barney. Even after all his exuberance when coming onto the stage, he was moping after a set or two when things weren't going his way.

I don't like the guy, he talks a load of rubbish but hey, more power to him.

Christ Dolan and Durrant still to come tonight

Lets hope both are beaten, horrible boring styles

    Delighted MS out.

    TbL

Ps: let’s see what moanbag Anderson has to say

    TbL

    Predictably, nothing

Was thinking that looking at the lineup.

Dolan looking like speedy Gonzales compared to mensur

He was number 5 in the World and reached 4 World semi finals.

A lot of players from that era where Taylor dominated never won a tournament.

He did drop the head a lot on stage when things were going against him alright.

Thought Anderson had no chance when he went 3-2 down.

Did well to dig himself out from there.
It is ridiculous a player of his experience can be gotten to like that but I think Mensur gets under his skin more than anyone else.

Will need to step it up to progress much further.

    Pleasantly surprised by Dolan here
    Throwing with a nice rhythm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,629 ✭✭✭ThebitterLemon

Unlucky there Dolan, playing very nicely.

Being the underdog and playing a top player seems to be bringing out the best in him

    TbL

To me, reaching no.5 in the world and reaching 4 world semi finals is irrelevant. It really is all about winning when you take money out of the equation.

Of course Taylor had a big impact but would Mardle have been that much more successful had Taylor not existed? I don't think so. Also, alot of players of that era did win tournaments who i would consider of an equal reputation to Mardle at that time. Part, Lloyd, Scholten, Manley for example. For sure they didn't win too many though.

Dolan on fire. Well not literally coz there’d be a lot of black smoke. :)

But he’s playing really really well

    TbL

    Price gets the reverse 180 - 9 scored:D

Yeah, was very critical of his style earlier but he seems to have speed it up a bit

Can't see him holding on to win it

That 170 from Price will turn out to be the turning point of this match. Dolan playing well but Price dog it out.

Cracking match this. Super 104 from Dolan there under huge pressure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,030 ✭✭✭boomdocker

    Great stuff
Didn't give Dolan a hope in hell but he's brought his A game to be fair

They seem to accelerate when they get close to the checkout

Price such a dick looking directly into the camera when he checks out/misses.

Think this is up there as one of the best matches (i've seen) thus far this year.

Not sure if it's been mentioned already but the camera work is below standard this year.

Great match, Dolan played very well which came as a surprise to many of us

Price could be going far with that kind of luck. Not a fan of Mervyn King and hope Price beats him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,030 ✭✭✭boomdocker

Price v King should be tasty in the next round

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,615 ✭✭✭dubrov

Great game. I feel we are really hitting the top level standard now.

Shame again that you don't have to win by 2 legs in the final set.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,794 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

Unlucky Brendan Dolan. I think every set went with throw? I thought it used be win by two clear legs in the final set?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,265 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Dolan played really well will be raging about slow start to deciding leg

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    Merv beats Price.

    Why did they change this?

    Unlucky Dolan.

Was a big chance to make another quarter final.

Someone mentioned previously it was to make sure there were no delays when fans were in the arena.

They never changed it after the lockdown blocked fans from attending

Dolan was excellent tonight. Unlucky in the end but he can hold his head up high.

Does the table really make that much of a difference??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,030 ✭✭✭boomdocker

How has Gary Anderson turned from such a likeable character to a f***in twat

    Tables?
Moaning whingebag if he's that ticked off he should retire altogether

Casual darts fan here. Are there any actual likeable players these days?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,249 ✭✭✭SqueakyKneecap

Ando is being a spoilt brat but Mensur is a poor watch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,582 ✭✭✭bassy

Well done Brendan on giving price a good push there, the other Irish lads could learn a lot from watching dolan tonight.
