This looks ouchy, with more significant pain on the way tomorrow with the Stelvio on the horizon.

    Interesting fact / coincidence...
This is another summit finish, like Piancavallo, where Marco Pantani was the first victor, back in 1999, and it was in the wake of that success that the Italian was forced to quit the race as a result of an elevated haematocrit level. Coincidentally, as was the case at Piancavallo, when the Giro returned to Madonna di Campiglio in 2015, Mikel Landa was the stage winner.

Another big break today. Visconti will lose the blue jersey today from the looks of things if he hasn't already over the first climb. Guerreiro in the break and he isn't.

They're talking about likely changes to Saturday's stage, due to Covid restrictions in France. Sounds like the Agnello won't happen.
The mayor of Briançon (featured on stage 20 after the Izoard) has said that the Giro will not pass through the city due to COVID-19 health restrictions prohibiting gatherings of more than six people. It's looking more and more certain that stage 20 will be heavily altered.

    edit: snow!

Didn't get to see any of the stage... but it seems like I didn't miss anything in terms of GC action?

Delighted for O'Connor there, hard day yesterday and tried his luck again.

Yep, I kinda wanted De Gendt to do it but was great to see O'Connor do it today. I wonder will he have saved his team according to Rob Hatch? :pac:

New stage profile for Saturday. The riders will climb Sestriere three times

LOL... Sam's been climbing well the last couple of days though so might be spared the ignominy.
