I was wondering if anyone here could shed some light on this?

I was out the other day and saw two houses beside each other, both had ivy on them but very different in appearance, is this down to the plant age or are we talking about different varieties?

Here is a crop from a picture i took on my phone. The house on the left has the big leaves I'm hoping to get here.

Can anyone shed any light on why they have totally different leaf sizes, varieties, age, something else?

There are a good few cultivars out there, including some with smaller leaflets. It's a lovely climber, I don't see it half enough here in the west.

There are a few different types of Boston ivy . The one on the right looks like virgina creeper to me. But again there are many types of it too.

I'd say yer man on the right will get there eventually and it will look lovely in time once its filled in a bit, I suppose I want more instant gratification and the bigger leaves!
