Possible €€€+ to pay. Its unknown really, some say there wont be any duties some say opposite.
    How much was the monitor?

    around 1200 pound.

I could cancel and get the CRG90 with a guaranteed delivery of 28th of Dec if absolutely necessary

With possibility of 21% flat vat added, not counting the duties I would think about canceling order.
My that just my opinion, there so much mess with brexit that we cant say for sure what will happen.

Have just been on to amazon. They've not been able to shed any light on the situation.

I was worried about this as well, but in theory you shouldn't have anything extra to pay even with a no-deal. You would have paid Irish VAT already ordering directly from Amazon and monitors are exempt from duty.

I went to cancel and just order the crg90, but couldn't cancel. so looks like we'll just have to wait and see. :D

    Hi guys,
Im on the hunt for a ultrawide, the monoprice looked a great deal but looks like its sold out everywhere. Gigabyte to me looks another one but seems out of stock, any suggestions for what I should pick up?

I'd say add the Iiyama GB3466WQSU-B1 to the list, probably the pick of the bunch for overdrive settings and apparently they've fixed the flicker problem these panels have.

I was looking at that, forgot to add it, just trying to find the best price and possibly avoid buying from the UK

I have the Iiyama curved screen. Got it as an early Christmas present yesterday. Still tinkering with the settings. There is a very faint black smear when the image it REALLY dark but REALLY happy with it having come from a dual screen setup with an IPS and TN (gsync) panel.
Based on what I'm reading online I'm also running the latest firmware too.

Have been playing Cyberpunk on it and looks really nice.
I saw on some forum (possibly boards) that someone experienced the flickering in Crysis Remastered. Loaded up Crysis and low and behold the screen flickered on the loading screen. That is it. Not on the main menu and not in game. The odd thing is that the screen only flickered at the edges where the loading screen didn't cover (as if the loading screen was letterboxed). If the flickering only happens on loading screens then I'm happy with that then but I've yet to try it on multiple games. I've heard of flickering on in game FMV so will see if that happens.
From what I've read too the flickering will disappear when I turn off freesync. Using a 2070 Super.

Overall really happy with it but yet to see if the flickering is a problem for me that would make the screen unusable for me.

Just a follow-up with the flickering issue I've noticed on the Iiyama curved 32".
I've noticed it on Crysis an no other games and only realised it was happening on the loading screen. But the loading screen is letterboxed and the only portion of the screen that flickers is the area outside the letterbox. I recorded the screen via Nvidia instant-replay and it's recording the flickering which implies it's not the screen that's flickering, but the game.

So fare really happy with it. Scrolling through text had a noticeable smear/trail depending on the text/background colour combination but certainly not a deal breaker.

    Is Overdrive set?

Otherwise it could be black level smearing which is a "feature" sadly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,923 ✭✭✭kearneybobs

I've Overdrive set to +1 which it the 4th level over overdrive (-2,-1,0,+1,+2)
I don't see a huge difference in the text trailing when scrolling when I change that so I think it's that smearing that's inherent with VA panels. It little bit jarring coming from a TN panel but love it for the price.

So my monitor still hadn't dispatched on the date of was set to be delivered. Got on to them and there was some mix up and it was delayed. Waiting for an update as to shipping. I'm a sad puppy.

From a pure resolution point of view probable not much at all to be honest. What is the current and new screen size difference, if any?

Of course there maybe lots of other factors also to consider

    Refresh rate
    Frame Sync
    Color space
    Blace levels

    Etc.

I currently have a Dell Alienware AW3418DW (2yrs old) but debating of upgrading to ACER Predator X38P Quad HD 37.5"

Lads would a monitor with the res. 5120x1440 be lost on the RTX3090, or would I be better off getting a 4K screen.

I really want a 32" as the 27" is not much of an upgrade over the 24" I had but the performance and picture is...but that Samsung Oddy Screen is pure PC PORN.

The G9 is the best monitor on the market. Go for it.

If i had a 3090 i would deffo go for a 4k despite the fewer frame rates you would get.

I have the 32" G7. Go for it. Amazing panel.

    Seriously? That good....

Where would be the best place now to get one...dont think it would be much dearer new then buy the one on adverts.

Would 49" not be overkill, biggest monitor I ever had is my current 27" flat....it would prolly take an age to adjust to it....not too mention needing a new desk lol.

Did they say why? Been waiting a week for a monitor to be dispatched, worried they'll cancel it too.

Looking at pulling the trigger on this. Would be replacing two rubbish 20 inch FHD monitors I got from the office. 9 to 5 is mainly excel and other similar programs (ie lots of numbers). Have the laptop as a third screen atm and will remain.

I'll move my own pc in there away from my 5 year old OLED tv. Some casual games some evenings and weekends. Will pick up cyberpunk and AC Valhalla at some point. For now it's the division some fifa and whatever interests me from game pass.

The delivery information says only irish vat charged and no import vat to be paid by the customer. They are registered for vat in Ireland.

Any thoughts. Something else I should consider?
    Thanks

Unfortunately the reviews look poor enough:

The Y44w-10 is a deep-pocket purchase that doesn’t quite deliver on the value. You’re better off looking elsewhere, such as the larger Asus ROG Strix XG49VQ or the Samsung C43J890, or better yet, two high-end 27” monitors mounted together.
