Beirne couldn’t have been more legal there.

    Carley wtf

How he wasn't awarded a penalty there is beyond me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,619 ✭✭✭eigrod

How could he present that with an Italian lying across him?

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,942 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Poledri could be as good a parrise

1 on his hand blocking stander from getting into the ruck.

It was for Ryan holding on

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Beirne is a great player but his lack of power was evident there. Didn't budge the man an inch with his attempted clear out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,353 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Stander and Ryan were too close together for that tip on pass to work. Shame as we were building momentum in the 22.

Probably won't go down well round here but Ryan has been poor enough today for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,634 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

It was for Ryan holding on

Was talking about the breakdown before that.

Ryan went to ground to easily in the one pelegri turned over

I hope the second half doesn't degenerate into mush as is often the case. We need to get it ramped up for 80 mins. We need a 4th try and then we need to score as much as possible.

    I know, sacrilege!

    That was poor by Stockdale.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Connors making the tackle at consecutive phases, taking Italy back 15m is hilarious.

    Terrible from stockdale.

I honestly don’t know where this notion of the back three looking sharp is coming from. Keenan has been good, Conway has barely had a shot and Stockdale is been poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,634 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

    Beirne topping the tackle count.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,353 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Neither Stockdale or Conway have been brilliant under the high ball tbh.

We haven’t a prayer next week looking at this

Conway is usually quite good under the high ball. I think Stockdale is best on the wing rather than full back.

Great clearance kick Murray. Playing very well.

Has anyone ever seen Keith Earl's and Hugo Keenan in the same room...

    Very similar players.

Healy putting his Mensa membership in jeopardy.

Time for Healy to take a seat

His application to Densa will be assured however.

Keenan would be flattered by the comparison no doubt, but yes.

Louise Galvin was on the wireless earlier talking about his showing in the 7s programme, his numbers for speed and endurance are unmatched. He certainly compensates for his relatively small size very well.

Great tackles by Connors and Beirne in succession.
Line speed excellent too, seems to have been cranked up a notch.

    Brutal from Sexton.

He was far too slow to release that flat.

His whole career you can always be guaranteed he'll do at least one brainless thing per match to give away a needless penalty. Dylan Hartley is another. Must be something about the nature of the position they play, too many bangs to the head!

Sexton not been great today either, touchline conversions and touch finders aside

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,039 ✭✭✭TomsOnTheRoof

Terrible second half performance so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,634 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

    Well done johnny.

A game to forget for him.
Hopefully he gets his act together before next weekend.

Well read but we were needlessly flat off the set piece there.

    Ireland no great shakes here.

Ouch. Good read but poor decision from Sexton and Henshaw not without blame too.

No real reason to keep Sexton on at this point regardless. Get some game time for Byrne.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,008 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Delighted for Ed Byrne to get on the pitch, he's been through a lot and worked hard to get to this point

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,353 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Hugo Keenan is getting that MOTM award so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,251 ✭✭✭✭Losty Dublin

Vintage defensive position from Italy there, pulling your winger up a yard to anticipate the last pass. Sexton really should have read that one better.

    Gonna get pummelled next week
