New Denon/Marantz/Yamaha AV receivers faulty?

    I was looking to get a reciever and was leaning towards the Denon 2700 I was going to buy in the next 3-4 weeks (waiting for black Friday!). I am hearing that the new denons (maranitz and yamaha also affected) have a fault and are only capable of 4k60 most of the time and the fault cannot be fixed via firmware update as is is hardware related. Just a quick question - Whatns if I go ahead with my purchase and this fault is apparent in my unit

    Hi Moreilly,

    news on this issue is just breaking over the last couple of days and I understand (unconfirmed) that the issue is somewhat unclear - but there does appear to be an issue.

    From what I have heard today - Sound United who own Marantz and Denon will release an updated statement over the coming days ( possibly today / tomorrow) - the products are not faulty but there is apparently a single chip that does not do what it was meant to do with all 120Hz sources.

    My advice would be - if 120HZ 4K / 8k is critical to you - then I would hold fire and don't purchase anything until the issue is clarified.
