Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Amount of PL sides drawn by the Big 6 in the domestic cups since 16/17:

    City: 24 (41)
    Chelsea: 23 (38)
    United: 20 (37)
    Arsenal: 18 (32)
    Liverpool: 13 (21)
    Spurs: 11 (27)

Numbers in parenthesis are total number of games played in all competitions (FA Cup + EFL)

Them number don't tell the whole story ,

It should really show at what stage City tend to draw lower league sides in the early stages and then top 6 teams in the latter stage when things get serious,

It isn't citys fault that other teams only start to take them 'seriously' later on in the competition...

To be honest I would rather City play the big teams early on when they 'aren't taking it seriously' and then beat the lesser teams at the end of the competition, that would be amazing...

I think you're misreading there - the poster didn't say when other sides take it seriously - they said when things get serious. As in, the only teams left in the latte stages are the big teams who have knocked out most of the smaller teams.

Point being, City have tended to have an abnormally easy route through the first few rounds to the latter stages, at which point by default the only teams left are big teams.

Fair enough but at the end of the day you still have to beat the big teams regardless (as the stats above bear out). At least the rivals should be happy with the fixture congestion it causes for them later on in the season. I am sure they would rather let city stroll to the semis (they play close to their strongest team even against weakest teams anyway) and then to lose say to Arsenal like last year in the FA Cup

BBC One going with Cheltenham v Man City feels like a ludicrous choice when West Ham v Doncaster is stuck on the red
    button.

West Ham 1 up after a minute, okay... :o

Very impressive fireworks display at Cheltenham.

Not just a few bangers or rockets.

City are powder puff so far and it's not as if Chelters have spent 50 minutes defending

I see Pep is going for every trophy again. Going to be some fixture pile up

I would assume safety. Happened in the last round as well. In the last round (Can't remember which game) it was for a young fan who had cancer to show the fans were thinking of him!

Some of the expired whizbangs were landing inside the ground.

They kinda can’t help it really... their squad is unbelievably deep, it’s almost hard to put out a genuinely weakened team. Only a bare handful of nailed on first 11 players out there today, but still a very strong team.

30 minutes to go City are going to win 1-5.

This would be the biggest cupset ever probably if it happened which it won't.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 18,419 Mod ✭✭✭✭DM_7

This is where the 5 subs is really unfair to a club like Cheltenham.

City can change half their outfield team.

This would be the biggest cupset ever probably if it happened which it won't.

It would be up there. Wrexham beating Arsenal in 92 was a big one, they were bottom of the 4th division and Arsenal were reigning league champions.

Cheltenham completely switching off for the 2 goals. City players walking past while defenders are ball watching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,022 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Typically enough it's a winner that would've been offside with VAR.

Cheltenham are a team that really irrationally annoy me so pleased to see City beat them. They're an awful team to watch, a real throwback to the era of 6'5 full backs and wingers who are really centre backs. The bad side of League 2..

They must be the tallest team in the league, where football and young players go to rot over physicality and size.

Chelsea through 3-1 v Luton. Werner couldn't even score from 12 yards.

    Man Utd vs Liverpool
i feel like this game will be cagey and will be settled by penalties

Liverpool lack of pace will allow United push on today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,028 ✭✭✭✭SEPT 23 1989

United seem to hold back and not go for them just playing the ball sideways as they approach the box

Poor defending by Liverpool. Milner should have won the header, he shouldn't be playing there to begin with, but needs must.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,246 ✭✭✭Esse85

    Did Milner jump too early?

Brilliant from Greenwood. Milner caught in no man's land

  • About time Liverpool see yellow
Foul after Foul from Thiago and Fabinho
