Not much detail in your post! What is your idea of cheap?

You could run an intruder alarm and some LED lamps off a car battery and charge the battery with a solar panel. Or you could get a generator or get an electricity supply in. Generally a dog is best though.

Alarm could be anything from €500 to €2000 depending on specification.
Car battery could be anything from €50 up.
Solar panels to charge batteries could be anything from €100 up.
Labor could be anything from €200 up depending on what you want.

As your description is so vague the cost estimates will be too.

I'd second that suggestion on the solar lights.
I've a few of them dotted around. They usually come with a few different settings including one with a dim light that comes on when it's dark with a PIR sensor that brightens the light when it senses movement, or a setting that has it off unless it senses movement.
You'd need to position them so they gets as much daylight as possible.
