Hi there bought an iPhone 11 arrived today haven't opened it yet.

    Anyways my issue is this...

I have a 21" iMac (mid-2011) running MacOS "Sierra" , 10.12.6, and I have just realised that I may not be able to connect the iPhone to the iMac for syncing purposes!!

Latest version of OS is " Sierra" so it looks as though I can't copy to the iPhone

Anyone else confirm this for me??

Also if true is there any workaround to help me get music from my iTunes library to my new iPhone??

You just need to have the latest OS available for each device installed, so ios14 on your phone and I think High Sierra 10.13.x should be available for your Mac, then it should be fine.

YOu have nothing to worry about.

Also, you can use iCloud to sync your music.

Did you see the link for cloud syncing? That should solve all your issues.

Shouldn’t make a difference which phone it is, mine is an XS max running iOS 14.

Yes did see the link, will check out over the weekend

Question about content - is this for apple purchase only content or can use store music ripped from CDs, tape and vinyl which I have done through the years

    Do you use Apple Match?

If not you should as that will sync all your music regardless of origin to Apple's highest quality file.

    Apple Match info.

I used to use this but don't use iTunes or Match anymore since Apple Music came about as practically everything is there and it's good value.

Edit: I just read that Apple Music includes Match. So I think might be the way for you to go.

The music I need I have in my library and don't want to pay for Apple Music or Spotify or any other service
