It is a competency-based interview, have an example of each competency for clerical officer level, also know about GDPR & sending emails to multiple recipients and hiding all other recipients email addresses. The interview lasts about 20 mins with 2 ppl interviewing. Here are the list of competencies for clerical officer level: https://www.publicjobs.ie/restapi/documents/Clerical_Officer_Level.pdf

    Be on-time.

Did they give you an Familiarisation Booklet? If so, you might upload that here.

I haven't seen the booklet but historically the interview was about 20 minutes, two members on the board and the Clerical Officer Competencies grouped into four blocks (three blocks of specific questions and the Drive and Commitment competency being assessed throughout).

There is a descriptions of the competencies in the original Booklet, they should be at the end of the Familiarisation Booklet also.

The questions you will be asked are open ended / competency based:
    1. Describe a situation you encountered....
    2. Give an example of a time....

The actual questions will depend on the competency / grouping but as long was you can use a phone, email, Microsoft Word and Excel & you understand the important of teamwork and working well with other, You'll be fine.

Make sure your teamwork example is from a time after you were in management and shows you can fit in and contribute as a worker not a manager.

It can be quite an adjustment going back to the bottom rung in a workplace and and they need to.know you can do it.

I’d be interested to find out from people who’ve done previous tco contract how their experience was with the letters that supposedly lets them skip the interview, so I’ll know what to expect

I’m wondering if they are preparing for a higher clerical workload in the now very likely event of a no-deal Brexit.

That would make sense which is why that’s what their not going to do.

Are you meant to give th the letters from other tco jobs or do you wait till they ask for them.

Once the Interviews are over, and the batch moves to the Clearance and Assignment units, they will request the references like usual with the health declaration and garda vetting etc.

Received a message on message board from them saying that they had reached my number for interview but because I had already been a TCO in last 3 years to just have references from HEOs available when requested. (Tipperary=

Seem to be true to their word. I'd say that's why Dublin interviews are moving so fast too.

Already at least 2 brexit units set up. One in Limerick and one in Dundalk. They're just revenue. Also huge amount of pre brexit work done by revenue and customs with specialised units over the last two years including letters, phone calls, hotlines etc.

I have done the interview a few times and it is always a competency-based interview, have an example of each competency for the clerical officer level, also know about GDPR & sending emails to multiple recipients and hiding all other recipients' email addresses. The interview lasts about 20 mins with 2 ppl interviewing. Here are the list of competencies for clerical officer level: https://www.publicjobs.ie/restapi/documents/Clerical_Officer_Level.pdf

    Best of luck :)

Thanks a lot! I think i'm prepared for those competencies and the emails and hopefully GDPR.....but we will see! Do they ever ask about strengths and weakness or about why the role is of interest etc?

Not that I can remember however be no harm to have a strength and weakness prepared just in case they ask, the application form you filled in will most likely guide their questions, etc. :)

What exactly will they ask about GDPR?

Thank you! All went well (I think!). Really lovely interviewers which helped the process a lot - they did ask about the competencies, as was to be expected, but they did not ask me about hiding email or gdpr specifically. I had a lot of information that I didn't get to say because of time restrictions but realistically, once you are able to speak about the competencies you should be absolutely fine! Best of luck! :)
