    Roglic in red!

No - they've changed it. Top 30 or so gets the same time now.

No surprise that he won. He's by far the best rider in the peloton at powering up that sort of an incline - short and not too steep.

    Dan finished 7th

Good showing from him again. Think Roglic caught a few of them on the hop in terms of positioning and timing of the kick... Dan might have fared better if he'd stuck a bit tighter, but easy to say with hindsight. And easier said than done! Did he get a few seconds over Carapaz and Carthy?

fair play to roglic...3 victories now in the vuelta 2020

Rode a very hard Dauphine , a really really hard Tour , Worlds, LBL and now with all these riders who were not top at the Tour and he is leaving them behind

Good job he doesnt ride for Ineos I suppose

Carapaz was 2nd behind G Martin with about 500m to go and went backwards. Roglic and 10+ others flew past him

Looks like they were all given the same time.

Think we can all be happy in the knowledge there is zero chance Sam Bennett was winning that stage! More Liege Bastogne Liege than a sprinters stage! Great finale

The odds on Sam were crazy, he was never getting this one. Thankfully i layed him on the exchange before the series of climbs were he was dropped :D Knew id won ages ago

How on earth can that be classified as a "flat" stage?

He's 3 seconds down on Carapaz and just won a short sharp sprint up a hill. It's hardly ridiculous

He's not leaving behind a Tour quality field either fwiw. Same as the Giro. Just a very odd season that has the peleton too thinly stretched

Yeah, he looked very leggy. Doesn't bode well for him this weekend.

Looks like they've given Carapaz and the 2nd group the same time as Rog and Dan

Wasn't that updated? Carapaz given same time as Roglic and so remains 3 seconds ahead.

Roglic in red as per official website

They changed it back! Everyone down to 8th on the same time. Carapaz and McCarthy lose 3 more seconds to Roglic and Dan

Originally it gave everyone same time, then they edited it to give Roglic a 3 second gap.

Same Time for the Carapaz is a bit generous. There were definitely gaps in the road.

In the replay Carapaz came in 6 seconds after Roglic

Originally it had a gap. Then they changed it. They they reinstated the gap

And to be honest Roglic should have gained time on the Dan Martin group too

Carapaz didn't get same time Roglic to 9th did, including Dan, they got 3 seconds on the rest.

Definitely gaps at the end. I was about to post that the Vuelta comms couldn't be arsed counting tenths of a second to separate Roglic and Carapaz — so gave them both the same time — but have rightly acknowledged the gap now.

I must admit, I thought Roglic would show fatigue after the Tour, but he is showing incredible reserves to do what he is doing here. Angliru on Sunday will be fascinating to watch.

YOu are missing the point ...I accept the season is unusual

My point is if Roglic rode for INEOS he would get lambasted because INEOS cant have top performances and be given the same leyway that other riders are given ...not on social media and not by some here

even when they do stuff that is extraordinary .
Roglic flying now is extraordinary given what he has ridden so far this season

It's be great if Dan could do it tomorrow and snatch that red jersey for a couple of days.
