RTE player having a mate for me and match hasn't even started...

O'Rourke is particularly bad tonight. 'No one under 50 remembers Meath beating Dublin'. 2001 is 19 years ago. Serious hyperbole out of him.

And his oul palavar about Cavan not paying to go to games, for drinks etc is hackneyed.

He should have been booted out of RTE years ago, he just turns up after doing no research in the teams or players and waffles his way through.
How much would the likes of him be getting paid by RTE for that junket?

I've heard the going rate is about 1500 a pop. They all have companies setup to pay less tax also.

Agree about O’Rourke. Awful pundit. But promoting gambling? Is he doing commercials for them or is he just mentioning it in the “analysis”?

On the website and sometimes in the shops themselves.

Expecting the Dubs will cruise through by 10 minimum.

A miracle seems unlikely but would love to see Cavan do well here or at least hold their own for the opening period.

He can’t find his whistle, obviously considering he couldn’t blow for the clear drag on McCarthy at the throw in.

Dublin will win by about 17 points. We see this so often with teams starting well but collapse soon after.

    Fine score in fairness.

    Galligan should get an all-star.

Have the GAA abandoned the steps rule?

    The misplaced passes are starting...

The space is going to be a problem for Cavan.

Dublin seem to be so economical getting scores

That Cavan hand pass to a Dublin player was definitely due to confusion in the team colours. They should have changed the jerseys.

I can't understand why one team hadn't using a change strip.

Looks fine on TV but 100mph in the game is a different story

Cavan kickouts and fielding have been excellent.

Looking very ominous. Dublin haven't really started yet but they're already building a big lead.

The strength difference in the tackle seems vast.

The Dubs are walking through the tackles

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,323 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

Dublin's work-rate isn't even near their usual levels yet either

It's a combination of strength and tightness in the solo/carrying the ball.

Dublin will win this by a big score in the end, but some really good stuff from Cavan at times.
The problem is the small mistakes get punished by the likes of Dublin.

The way Dublin converge on an attacker is awesome. Somehow manage to put pressure on the ball carrier, while not leaving the guy they're meant to be marking exposed enough to receive a pass. They've mastered the press

Great effort by Cavan thus far.

    Kickouts Cluxtonesque like.

A few cheap turnovers have cost them.

It's been said a million times but the RTE player is an absolute disgrace.

They have 7 points in 16 mins, they have started pretty well to me.

Cavan have done more in 15 minutes than Meath did in 70 mins. Just shows you how embarrassing Meath were that day.

Dublin always do this thing where the lad in possession just slows down and a teammate overlaps in front of them. Usually the second lad is closely followed by his marker, so two lads run between the man in possession and his marker and creates huge space and time. How have teams not copped on to this? Just needs a quick switch of markers to put some pressure on
