I'm due to be promoted in the civil service and have yet to be released by my current workplace.
Does anyone know how long your current employer can delay before they have to release you for promotion? Any info would be appreciated.

It's a promotion so if they don't release you soon you should push your HR for a date. They can't hold you up.

Within the HSE it's normally a month as per the 2015 circular. Dependent on the needs of your current and future depts tho these things can be a bit of a moveable feast. It's worth having a conversation with your future boss re same.
