Of course he is, he wouldn't stand a chance in another election and he knows it. Leo would be gone and if Simon Harris was to take his place (:pac:), they wouldn't stand a chance either.

But of course it is just anti-Leo and the SF brigade that see this weak government as a bad thing,.

Are Sinn Féin admitting defeat on this one yet?

It is about time at this stage.

Looking forward to the firing squad tomorrow. it is shambles really, he has had 72 hours to prep his answers now, if you try to shoot the devil you best not miss.:)

In retrospect the Village jumped the gun on publishing. Have they even got a follow up?

Leo hasn't just trashed his reputation here btw.
His admittance this time, essentially confirms that he was the leaker during some Brexit negotiations.
His reputation is now in tatters, internationally.
He cannot be at the table in future negotiation.

    From Jan 2019:
Leo Varadkar leaked Brexit conversation says Dominic Raab

The fact that he is making a statement means this will be gone in a week.

Unless the Village have a follow up this is all over, bar the obvious shouting tomorrow.

Awful timing with the US election, someone wasn't thinking things through again.

Doesn't seem to have gained a lot of traction from what i can gather. While it's
poor behaviour and more of the usual insider politics, there doesn't appear to be killer rules/law breaking going on.
All eyes will be on the US election from tomorrow alright.

The leak is a disgrace to Irish politics.a sneak and a gombeen of the highest order. If he hasn’t the decency to apologize and resign he should be fired.

The handwaving it away act has kinda run out of steam, has it not?

Mícheál said Leo was the Taoiseach in his statement this morning, imagine the state of mind he's in with Leo living rent-free in his head.

Not a bit surprised.between himself and the leak they don’t know when is midnight and when a new day starts.

His statement and answers in the Dail will decide the outcome. If's he lucky the Village has played their hand and they have nothing else. Of course they could be waiting to see what Leo says .
A compliant has been lodged with SIPO.

I really do hope that The Village has an ace of spades up their sleeve and publishes same on Wednesday after Leo's Q&A tomorrow.

I think if more stuff comes out he’s goosed- like the Phil hogan saga. If not he’ll probably be fine

The Taoiseach has his back and Catherine Martin doesn't have enough dog in the fight, she is eyeing up Tánaiste in a few years anyway.

Unless the Village have a follow up he walks. Shouting at him for 70 minutes in the Dáil won't work either, cometh the hour cometh the man, he will swat them off like flies. As I said, if the Village waited until next week this had a squeak, timing is everything. The fact that there was no bite from the mainstream media speaks volumes. No one reads the Village anyway.

The person I feel most sorry for is Chay Whatshisname. He has exposed himself as a rat and no one will ever trust him again. What a sucker, no one cares and his career is now over.

Ah that lovely FG term for whistle blowers 'rat'. Hilarious that you mention trust, who can trust Varadkar now with confidential information. Even the Brits got the measure of him right.

If SIPO decide to investigate the idea that the US election is going to end it is nonsense. US election could be done and dusted by lunchtime Wed.

Proof our politicians are highly questionable at the best of times.
A sneaky little man who deserves to be thrown out but the experience with 'judge' wolfe shows that unless the rest of them have the balls to throw them out, these guys will hold on to the death.

A good Irish word for him: a sleveen- untrustworthy cunning person.

Nothing yet. I'm actually waiting for his response, he has received a lot of info previously relating to HSE/Dept of Health, hopefully he's keeping his powder dry.
Aodhain O Riordain has been taking the lead for the LP up until now.

That's certainly how it reads, and if true does away with misconceptions that anyone benefitted financially from the leak.

Whiff of desperation from this lad on the 6.1 here... arguing and shouting over David as he tries to tell us there's nothing to see here...

It's gas watching these FGaelers being wheeled out like rabbits caught in the headlights and trying to defend the indefensible.

Peter Burke looking now as if he's gonna cry on 6.1

The more they deny the worse it seems.
