The problem with the questions on leaking is that there will always be degrees of leaking and so it's difficult to pin Leo or anyone else on what's an offence.

Actually that was an interesting interaction now that you mentioned it! He said it was not worth his while suing for defamation because they were a small outfit. So if he could sue them and win it would vindicate him. However he's basically said that wasn't worth his while because it probably wouldn't be financially worth it if he won. So his reputation has a financial value to him?

A more interesting perspective is why did Bowes think he could influence Government policy by getting close to Varadkar, just what other dodgy things are waiting in his business past if he's upset he couldn't get what he wanted through back door deals?

Same with Cosgrave really, who made up stories about nurses dying of covid to make FG look bad largely because Kenny refused to give him special treatment for the web summit. Do either sound like honest brokers?

He'd win the case,I've no doubt about that,because the village wouldn't be able to prove law breaking
But he couldn't be arsed
In his eyes it would take 3 years and be hanging or adjourned at election time

That's why there are protocols and appropriate ways of carrying out such things. To protect the politician, civil servant and tax payer.
Once you step over the line you are putting yourself in a bad situation.
That is why it's very important not to dismiss or excuse away such actions. We need to have accountability and consequences if FF/FG or any government expect to be trusted or taken seriously.

Calling the reputation of the whistleblower/s into question doesn't change the fact that Leo was a bold boy and he got caught.
Dominic Rabb the British minister accused Leo of leaking during the Brexit negotiations, seems he more than likely was correct as we learned Leo has form.
