Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Stockdale looks more and more like someone asked Devon Toner to play at fullback.

    Game over.

We would have never, ever been so inaccurate under Schmidt. Lineout a shambles and it's not a new problem - this has been going on for months and I can't understand how we haven't tightened and cleaned that up yet.

Forwards worked their socks off in the loose but we've no creativeness or accuracy when it counts.

I can imagine where this thread is going for the next few days so I will bid you all adieu and hope you have a lovely Halloween.

they just put three phases together without error. things are looking up.

Good to see the French back
Beautiful rugby nation in full flow

    Ireland are very ordinary

This is a poor Irish team. Missing international level talent at 1, 4, 9, 10, 15. Haven't seen it this bad in 10 years.
Feels a bit like the 80s and 90s when we were happy to win one or two matches in the 5 Nations each year if we were lucky.

In a country where it's always raining, you'd think our handling skills would be better in wet conditions.

    Leave Zebo out of it.

Say what you like about Stockdale and I'm sure he'll have a target on his back but he hasnt hid or stopped trying.

Tis immaterial now and both very difficult positions to come on in and make a difference but sub hooker and outhalf have been absolutely terrible. Losing lineouts, dropping passes, missing touches.

    Disaster of a second half

Crying out for Zebo at FB, Stockdalehas had a mare, France try

Silly man, did you not realise he is a Cork man and does not qualify because he plays abroad and scores tries ?

I said against Italy Stockdale won't be too bad at FB but against the big teams he'll be an absolute shambles.

    And I was right.

And considering all our players formerly played in GAA

I though beirne and Murray did ok. But sexton is finished and Conway could have played full back

We really need to work on our skills. The amount of balls that have been into fella's chests rather than out in front is atrocious.

You mean he's an idiot who chose not to play for Ireland because the mean coach told him he needed to improve his work ethic?

I think that’s OTT. This is a good French team but Ireland have beaten themselves tonight.

Horrible second half, given how well we handled the first (relatively speaking).

Definitely no reason to panic going forward, but line-out is now priority number 1.

Feel bad for Stockdale, nightmare game for a great player.

Sure, bring him in and watch a mass exodus of players who can get some more money.

If Zebo wants to play for Ireland so badly he knows what he has to do.

Well we've won 6 out of our last 7 throw-ins now that France have stopped competing.

Ball security. Like we've thrown everything Joe bet into them for years out the window.

I actually don't know how anyone can blame Heffernan when no has actually seen the two lineouts because of the French TV directors artistic vision.

Every so often France wake up and decide it's time to score another try.

Ireland’s new coaches are really uninspiring compared to the places France seem to be heading to. We look to be heading back to the 90’s.

And if he doesn’t fancy playing then he’ll jog around.
You’d want to a pretty awful player to look bad in a Racing 92 backline.

His last season and a half at Munster were really poor stuff.

Zebo was offered a contract. He knew if moving to France he wouldn't play for Ireland.

The policy is in place to make sure Ireland can keep all players at home and make the provinces more competitive, also the players get rest for the international game.

Zebo has never and still is not good enough to risk all that for.

Have to say, glad Stockdale managed to get something to give him a consolation after tonight. Can't imagine it'll be easy to shake off a performance like that.

He was of the best in the world in his position, without anyone else in Ireland remotely near his level.

Very few Irish players find themselves in that position.

Zebo was woefully inconsistent for Ireland and up until very recently woefully so at club level too. For every moment of brilliance he had, he made criminal mistakes that were detrimental to the team. He didn't deserve ti have an exception made, as his form at the time and mostly since hasn't deserved it. There were times when he looked woefully unfit too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,066 ✭✭✭Christy42

Why was stock fake left on for so long his handling errors must have been on the double digits .

    Positives
    Henshaw
    Ryan
    Stander

Apart from that just rubbish .

    Keenan as well.

As for Sexton playing abroad, he was a lot better than Zebo and even then it was a mistake that really didn't work for us. Precedence is a terrible reason to keep making the same mistake.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,504 ✭✭✭✭MEGA BRO WOLF 5000

Decision by Sexton at the end of the first half to kick for the corner instead of taking the 3 was awful.
