Kirby hasn't a clue who the rider is in front, shocking.

Riders are going out the back door as if they have fallen off a cliff

Fantastic shot of the mountain there on eurosport, looks insanely hard

A lot of the time it's hard to gauge how steep the climbs are from the tv. No doubting it from these shots here

Looked like the astana rider was trying to enjoy the view and not show his suffering as the Cabrera bike went by

Did George Bennett drop off without doing a turn on the front?

Yeah. Looked that way to me. They went from 5 to 3 almost instantly

New prediction - Dan Martin to ride into 2nd place today. Maybe even get enough time to hold off Carapaz in the time trial.

Carapaz does look like he's on his last legs (on this climb)

Thank god there’s no fans on the mountains, gives the riders a much safer ride, especially on the very steep bits

This is only a newish climb because the gearing in the 80s would have killed the riders

Sean Kelly’s 10 different ways to pronounce cadence. Brilliant 😂

Dan needs to catch Carthy and stop him getting bonification seconds.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,054 ✭✭✭✭neris

Carthys style of struggling up the hill is not a thing of beauty

. I don't expect to see anyone going at the first hard ramp, las Cabanes with about 6km to go and there's a long enough section of a steady 12%ish after that where people will try to get a rhythm going but once they round Cobayos and hit Cuenas Las Cabres then anyone who can make progress should go because if anyone starts to crack there they could lose minutes in the space of less than a kilometer.
Good call D - the voice of experience!

Poor Dan - probably the climb of his life and he's gone backwards on GC

Fair f*cks to first four riders today. Maybe Mas might win something in the future. I forget what he's like at time trials. Can he pass out Martin on Tuesday?
