Hmmm, probably the least impressive line up so far.

Gonna go with Old Town Rhodes, nice old style feel.

    Santorini

    Pic just screams Greek islands

Santorini - because its the image I have in my head when I think of Greece

    Santorini, because Captain Corellil's Mandolin.

I think the film was shot in Kefalonia.

My home country. I missed the nominations, I would have definitely nominated the Acropolis and Meteora.

From the 3 here, I will vote for Santorini. It epitomises the white and blue Greek island picture - but at the same time is a unique landscape due to the volcano.

Old Town Rhodes, just cos I'm a sucker for old towns.

Lindos for me, lovely whitewash village on the hillside overlooking a beautiful beach.

Old Town Rhodes, best of a quiet line up, sounds like there'd be more to do and see there than the others, pure assumption.

Absolute shame that it never got a nomination. Would have won easily imo

Santorini advances and will represent Greece

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

That does it for tonight. Some heavy hitters in the form of France and Germany, some wonderful gems from Faroe Islands Denmark and the debut of Africa with a potential favorite in the form of Egypt. Discounting the Wild Card Round, we now have from A-G covered, tomorrow we will naturally begin with H but where in the world are we off to? Join back in and have a gander with us.

    Neuschwanstein Castle

To me, it's one of THE standout castles in the world, it's absolutely gorgeous.

    + 1

It is like a Disney princess castle with darkness underneath :P

Any heads up on a time??

I've an online class in the evening . If its kicking off same time as today, I might have to consider a bit of sneaky multitasking while taking the video call.
I don't want to miss out on the game :P

It was actually the inspiration for Disney's castle for Sleeping Beauty, and the Disney logo (afaik)!

I will give a decent heads up on thread before uploading any matches. Have look in around lunchtime anyway to see :)

I'm not one to talk as I didn't get time to send in nominations, but I'm surprised Parthenon was not there for Greece, probably the most famous landmark in the country.

    agreed Kolido.
I missed on the nominations and as an :D authority in all things Greek I would have nominated Acropolis or Parthenon.

Hungarian Parliament - what a gorgeous building.

    Memento Park

Lots of lovely landmarks but I'll stick with my nomination.
Im amazed by communist statues in general, & I love that when they took them down, they didn't destroy them. Keeping them together in a park & giving visitors information about them, super idea.

The baths. Majestic building, with the added benefit of some 19th century technology to create great baths, including hourly tidal wave fun.

The parliament is magnificent though and I wouldn't mind if that won.

Hungarian Parliament nothing very special in this round so yeah. Mind you it was clever of Mack to photo bomb the Memento Park pic.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,712 ✭✭✭Sawduck

Memento Park, its got many nice looking sculptures in it and a cool sounding name

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,374 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Those baths look brilliant, so get my vote!

But they're a great set of nominations all round

*adds Hungary to the must-visit list
