Ok this is a first... a 4-way tie! Sheesh. Bare with me for the breaker.

Hungarian Parliament - what a gorgeous building.

    Memento Park

Lots of lovely landmarks but I'll stick with my nomination.
Im amazed by communist statues in general, & I love that when they took them down, they didn't destroy them. Keeping them together in a park & giving visitors information about them, super idea.

The baths. Majestic building, with the added benefit of some 19th century technology to create great baths, including hourly tidal wave fun.

    Dynjandi

I just love waterfalls and I can only imagine the peace and tranquility you would feel standing there listening to the water flowing.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,245 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Did no-one else nominate anything from Iceland?!

Have a look at this video of a plane landing at Isafjordur airport and tell me it isn't worth the vote.

    (Though Dynjandi is spectacular too)

    Dynjandi

Natural VS Natural and going for the waterfall here, the scenery in the other is unreal but not sure it's a landmark per se.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,511 ✭✭✭Purgative

One of the nicest waterfalls but I'm going for Isafjordur its exactly how I imagine an Icelandic village, which is a neat way of avoiding saying iconic. Looks stunning against the snowcapped mountains.

Didn't stop you voting for Klaksvík btw :)

Of those two, the waterfall has to get my vote. I'd say it's amazing to stand there and see/hear it thundering down. A good waterfall is a very lovely thing.

I have a sneaky feeling that all those towns/villages beside mountains are far less impressive seen from ground level as opposed to drone shots! (Still gorgeous though)

Can't believe nobody nominated Eyjafjallajökull, a landmark with the power to bring an entire continent to a halt :D

    Surprised only these two nominated
I'll go with Dynjandi, because waterfalls are beautiful & this one is rugged and wild.

    Taj Mahal

I do like the Buddha but Taj Mahal just edges it for me.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,245 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

I love the colours of that Sri Ranga thingy. I'll be controversial and vote for it over the Taj.

    (But where's the Golden Temple?!)

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,374 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Has to be the Taj Mahal.

Utterly iconic, up there with the Syndey Opera House for iconicness.

But that Buddha is fierce impressive looking all the same.....

I'll go for Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, it's so colourful as I imagine everything in India is - I've never been.

Wow what a round. Taj Mahal I'm fascinated by it. Its one of those things that doesn't disappoint (from two people I've spoken to) and it doesn't look blemished by fast food places and modern living like say Stone Henge or The Pyramids. Though I'd also be happy if the big Bud won.

Like the Pyramids, it can't really be anything else imo.

    Dun Briste

After winning the All Ireland it deserves to go to the World Cup.

    Also it's class still.
