OK gets my vote. I love these little gems

That's 40 landmarks qualified to Round 1 already. Only 24 spots remaining including our Wild Card. New Zealand is next up...

They're all lovely but I'm going for

    Mount Ngauruhoe

Better known as Mount Doom from LOTR :)

Milford Sound - nice Norwegian fjord feel to it.

    Milford Sound
    What a beautiful looking place

    Milford Sound.

To quote Douglas Adams - "Fiordland [...] is one of the most astounding pieces of land anywhere on God's earth, and one's first impulse, standing on a cliff top surveying it all, is simply to burst into spontaneous applause"

Waitomo Glowworm Caves I do believe its our first glowworm cave. So for that alone.

Damn, missed the Netherlands..... would have gone for the windmills....

Milford Sound for this one.... reminds me of the Norwegian fjords, and I just love epic landscapes. That definitely qualifies as epic!

Won't be back on here for an hour now, hope i don't miss too many rounds.... if you fancy a cuppa, Omackeral, now would be a good time :D

    Waitomo Glowworm Caves

I do like caves, and this one has glowworms, fab, how often do you see that!

Not a bad idea, we'll take a break! Speaking of Norway, that's our next destination :D

Is Portugal after Norway? Pena Palace better be in there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Yay, looking forward to Norway - fabulous place (the small bit I saw of it!)

Nobody made a nomination for Portugal at all. I think I might be able to squeeze it into the Wild Card Battle Royal.

I'll go with my nomination here of Henningsvaer (and in fact the whole Lofoten peninsula)

Spectacular scenery which more the lives up to the photos (the Atlantic Road is good, but really it's only a couple of miles of road with 4/5 bridges)

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 51,535 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

    Going for

    Atlantic Ocean Road

That's really unique and looks like a fun drive!

  • Registered Users Posts: 30,444 ✭✭✭✭Tauriel

    Geiranger Fjord

    Nature at its best.

Someday when covid is gone, I'll get to visit the fjords of Norway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,969 ✭✭✭✭alchemist33

Geiranger Fjord, it looks like somewhere you'd start a magical quest

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,511 ✭✭✭Purgative

Diverse selection. I like them all, but I'll go for the road. Love to drive that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

Atlantic Ocean Road for me. I like the stretch where the series of bridges connect all the little islands.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,712 ✭✭✭Sawduck

    Atlantic Ocean Road
Checking out pictures of it and it looks really interesting, would be a fun drive

And I'll go for my nomination this time, Geirangerfjord.

It's jawdropping, we did a cruise on an electric boat, so no engine noise, and those mountains and the still water in compete and total silence was amazing
