Only 5 spots remaining in Round 1 and we’re gonna decide them all tonight!

    Am I judging these wrong?

Are we voting for the best landmark or the most iconic?

That's a good question. I'm not sure that there is an answer. It came up in an earlier comp and iirc that there is no right or wrong. That you can judge in anyway you see fit: most iconic, best, most stunning look, most genuine ...

What happens when the most iconic meets the most genuine - well, we'll see.

If someone wants to jump in ...

I think you just need to vote for your own favourite in each match.

    I wouldn't overthink it!

"Best" is a very subjective term, but better than trying to break it down into its individual components. I might vote on history, symbolism, engineering, beauty, or, indeed, fame/iconicity. Or just go with my gut - what do I want to see, ir see again?

All of these answers are correct. It'a what makes it great IMO. We are on the home stretch of the qualifiers now folks, next ones are on the horizon. Should be up by 8:30 or so.

    Ha!

Is that the entire country nominated?

I'll go with the museum. More in it than in the other two.

    St Peter's Square

Just seems more 'landmarky' to me personally.

St Peters Square - because of St Peter and the fishes.

    St Peter's Square
    Just like it better

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

Not quite the entire country - the basilica itself wasn't nominated (or the railway station). Anyway I'll go for the museum - Sistine Chapel and Map Room are highlights.

I have been there and it's pretty impressive, the pidgins are not impressive though

    Gotta go with

    Ha-Long Bay

It's absolutely gorgeous, spent a week on an island here back in my south-east Asia travels.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,245 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Some very strong contenders here actually.

That bridge in particular is cool, and Ha Long Bay is stunning, but I like trains, and I hadn't a notion about Train Street until I stumbled across it while exploring Hanoi. It's utterly ridiculous and different, so it gets my vote.
