Machu Picchu - plus according to Wikipedia this has already won an internet poll.
Are you telling me Ireland didn't rig it? :p

I do like the look of Heaven's Gate but have to go for Machu Picchu here all the same.

Machu Piccu - I must have missed this in the earlier rounds but I really like it so I'll go for it now

Despite slightly dissing it earlier, I'm going to vote for Heaven's Gate here.

Further googling reveals a mad windy road, a glass walkway to it, and it's up the top of a very impressive mountain - what's not to love!

I'd dearly love to visit Machu Piccu some time, but I'd love to see Heaven's Gate more!

    Machu Picchu (Peru)

It's a a city built so long ago & then abandoned for so long! And it's on a mountain.

    Machu Picchu.
A lot of history behind it and I'm fascinated about it being in such high altitude.

Another vote for Machu Picchu (Peru). Old city on a pretty mountain? What's not to love?!?

Probably the other people visiting it.

    No contest here for me!

The Perito Moreno glacier - the colour of the ice and the water, the silence, the cracking/groaning, the flipping SIZE of the thing! It's absolutely eye-wateringly beautiful, and I'll be very upset if it gets knocked out!!!

(Plus, there's far better bridges than that one!)

I know I said built over natural - but this is definitely an exception. Has to be the amazing glacier.

My pick is Tower Bridge (United Kingdom), Just so iconic and a great landmark for London

Glacier in Argentina of all places impressive but nah

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,647 ✭✭✭SineadSpears

Tower Bridge! The glacier is beautiful but the bridge would be more of a recognised landmark, to me anyway

    Glacier is spectacular.

Tower Bridge is nice, and iconic in fairness. But not spectacular.

    Glacier for me.

    Iconic image

Glacier is spectacular but Tower Bridge is iconic on steroids

Has to be Tower Bridge for me.

Perito Moreno Glacier (Argentina)! All it's missing is the Fox's Glacier Mints polar bear perched on top (and yeah, I know they're from the other hemisphere). Tower Bridge is more recognisable but I don't find it aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

    Perito Moreno Glacier (Argentina)

    Nature at its most amazing
A landmark that may not be around much longer

I'm absolutely fascinated by her posts! Is she in a time-warp, or a parallel but slightly-out-of-sync universe somewhere?
