    Christ the Redeemer (Brazil)
I'll give it a bit of love, although both have amazing views and I'd be happy to see either progress, plus i have always wanted to visit Rio and i imagine the view from here at night would be something special

    Schafberg Peak for me.

Definitely the find of the tournament!

That's quite the heavy hitter it's going to knock out though!

    Schafberg Peak

Surprised it didn't get a whitewash.

Rio for me, a real landmark. That peak is basically a glorified mountain with a nice view, 100s of those around the world. I dont see the fuzz with it, even if there is a train going up to it, thats not unique by any means.

    Skellig Islands (Ireland)

Location, history and it's Irish, what more could you ask for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,369 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Skellig Islands for me, I think they are more unique

    Skellig Islands (Ireland)

Dubrovnik Old Town (Croatia) by default

Skelligs couldn't even win the All Ireland

Skelling Island - I didn't vote for this in the Ireland game but I have to vote for Irish soil for this round (I may not be so patriotic further down the line though)

Dubrovnik - its an absolutely charming place.

    Skellig Islands (Ireland)

Obviously. It's got little houses & church(es)? Built by monks, around 1500 years ago!!
And they did it way out at sea.
    Just amazing

Dubrovnik is a nice town, but it is a town. Put it in the best town or city thread!

    Ah Jesus!!!

These two are worthy of the final, never mind only bloody round 2.

Have to go with my heart here, and vote for the Skelligs - they were absolutely robbed in the Irish comp, and they are utterly mindblowing and beautiful and dramatic and historical and unique.

(Dubrovnik is really, really beautiful though, if anyone wants a long-weekend destination for when we're allowed leave the house again)

    And a little mini-graveyard!

Some serious home country bias here. A bit like the time our very average flag made the latter stages of the flag competition.

Being objective, if the Skelligs was in any other country it would be close to being whitewashed here. So I have to vote for the magnificent Dubrovnik.

I think that's very harsh. This is a battle between two UNESCO World Heritage sites; the Skelligs deserves to be here for sure.

    Easter Island statues for me.

Much more distinctive and unique than an old town (much and all as I love old towns, and Tallinn looks like a gorgeous one!)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,801 ✭✭✭JohnGreenFan

Easter Island statues, because they're class. I may or may not be slightly influenced by night or the museum

    Easter Island Maoi (Chile)

I like both but I think Easter Island just pips it.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,258 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Tallinn is a great old town - even has a mediaeval chemist (open since 1422) and a mediaeval bar (where you can eat mediaeval meals such as bear and berries, drink mediaeval drinks like mead and cans of fizzy cider, and pay on a mediaeval credit card machine)

It's a big hitter of old towns - but I think the Maoi are a lot more distinctive, so that gets them my vote.
