Its a nice waterfall but Stari Most Fantastic place. A place that doesn't disappoint and the photo is pretty true. Lovely place must get back there.

Stari Most is stuck in my head since childhood when my school and schools in Limerick painted little stars and hung them off one of the bridges in town to raise awareness of the plight of Mostar.

I have other personal connections that that place and that war too

    Stari Most

Definitely Stari Most. I love the bridge and city and as I said last night there are better natural and water features in the competition than Dynjandi.

    Dynjandi

Part of the fun of it is in getting there - it's miles from nowhere along dirt tracks that you're worried you will fall off as you drive along. The first view from across the water of the falls is amazing, and it just grows and grows as you get closer. Then the sheet volume of water when you finally arrive and climb up to it, and finally the view as you look out at where you are.

The bridge is on my must-see list and is great too, but for now I'll stick with the waterfall.

    Dynjandi.

Don't see the appeal of the other yoke at all.

    Stari Most.

Manages to be beautiful in both it's natural setting and man made architecture, a rare occurance

    Pyramids of Giza (Egypt)

Straight up iconic irrespective of the modern touristy surrounds.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,372 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Hmmmm, I think the Pyramids have to get my vote here.

40m (statue) vs 140m (pyramids) - hard to get an idea of the scale of the pyramids from that picture!

Plus, how the fk did they actually build them all the way back then?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

I'm not huge on either to be honest. However, the ruining of the last standing original wonder of the world by commercialisation really does grate with me, so I have to vote for the Genghis Khan Statue.

Yeah, Pyramids for me too. I know if you turn that photo around, you'll see something completely different, but still for scale, and age, and the number of them, they beat the horsey statue for me, even if you can't climb up on them :)

    Pyramids of Giza (Egypt)

Don't care what has been built recently nearby, these are truly deserving of a place in the finals

Yep. These two comments sum up the debate (in my head).

Feck it. For age and scale The Pyramids.

I know I will be out voted here but one of my favourite places is Kotor Bay and this stands in it, so Our Lady of the Rocks

    Our Lady of the Rocks

I love both but this just seems so picturesque.

Our Lady of The Rocks. Looks breathtaking, like it had been designed for an Elder Scrolls game or the like.

Great waterfall but Lady of the rocks. Loving setting and a great story (legend)

As much as I love the idea and the location of that church, the sheer scale of the falls (over 1km wide!) gets my vote.

    What a natural spectacle!

Victoria Falls they are truly beautiful

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

Much as I loved that part of Montenegro, realistically the church on the island is up against a potential overall winner here.

There's very little left that can compete with Victoria Falls for me to be honest.

Unless some other voters for the falls come along fairly sharpish, they'll be knocked out!
