Maguire is shocking in the air at corners.

How the hell has Maguire not hit the target?!

right wing is such a dead zone. bad control there by AWB

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,722 ✭✭✭posturingpat

Is it fair to say now that contrary to popular belief Maguire is not particularly strong in the air? Can get his head on the ball but genuinely seems to have no idea where it's going.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,502 ✭✭✭Your Airbag

I thought headed goals were one of Maguires strong points?

He just throws his head at it as if he’s trying to get it as far away as possible. It’s so frustrating seeing almost every corner aimed at him, because we get no return from it.

and how TF is that a free against greenwood?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,502 ✭✭✭Your Airbag

    Waste of a free kick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,758 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Standing a yard behind your defensive line not paying any attention having already given the ball away twice in the first few minutes isn't acceptable. Player to blame. Simple as. A professional defender that cant keep that line is a joke.

I agree. But his lack of concentration may be down to mental fatigue. Thats Oles department.

It's so refreshing to see the constant movement and running out of Cavani. It's an unusual sight!

He makes such a difference. We should have bought him years ago.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,502 ✭✭✭Your Airbag

Cavani's out wide a lot. Would prefer him to stay a lot more central and make runs. Let Pogba and Bruno pick him out.

AWB might as well be in the pub

  • AWB has been poor tonight

None of them were keeping a line though. Maguire had oissed off to midfield for some reason and Shaw was not much further back. Pogba Bailley and AwB were the 3 deepest players there

That's individually bad yea, but who is taking charge of that defence to have them positioned like that? They're not a unit at all

Both wide forwards have been poor unfortunately.

Greenwood has been so disappointing this season, a shadow of himself last season.

I really don't understand how Martial keeps starting, he's been so bad for so long.

We could do worse than enquire about Lookman. Seems like a player that's mature enough now that he will relish playing with better players

It should be Maguire is the best bit. Didn't even notice him gone missing but it's hardly a surprise with him. My eye just drawn to awb straight off the bat.

pogba still arses around with the ball too much.

Once the ball was played in behind Pogba would have expected Maguire to be there, instead he was ahead of him and moving forward, the player is clear through on goal. Brainless stuff from Maguire, the fact he's captain too adds insult to injury.

AWB poor too but when the ball is played beyond your deepest midfielder into the D on the edge of your penalty area you expect a CB to be there, as he is the last line of defense. Instead Maguire was ahead of our deepest midfielder.

Maguire is as just if not more culpable for the goal then AWB.

Martial AWB Greenwood all missing in action. Ole inanimate on the bench...ffs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,168 ✭✭✭Cypher_sounds

I don’t get why we don’t crowd the Fulham box or at least have more than Cavani in there more times than not.

Pointless having martial and Greenwood on each wing in a game like this.
Get them more central to play some 1 2’s to break through the defence. It’s painfully obvious this is what the game needs.

  • Big half needed from Oles Utd

Hopefully he takes off Martial, pulls Pogba Out left and steps someone into midfield alongside Fred

AWB needs to wake up, he is impacting Greenwooda ability to get on the ball too

Shocking start but things improved at least.

This United side has no business at the top of the table.

Look at City, churning out routine wins week in week out. That's what you need against a side like Fulham, we can't produce that type of routine consistency, watch us struggle against Sheffield United next week again.

Martial should be given a spell on the bench, how he keeps getting into the starting lineup is beyond me.

    Glazers Out!

A lot to do with them being kept out hugging the wing imo

not sure if its maguire or fred, completely vacate the centre.

    and AWB playing him onside

and pogba not tracking, and flagging for offside. what do you learn as an 8 year old - play to the whistle

We beat Burnley and this game aint over. Patience lad

This lot drew with Pool and Spurs. Its a tough game. We were the better team and theres a half to go.

    Maguire.

Watching the replay of their goal and Maguire is just meandering around towards the wing for no reason. What is he at? Yeah, Bailly should come across to cover and AWB plays Lookman inside, but Maguire causes the space.

Rio is all to easy on Maguire there. He notes the poor positioning but then outs most of the blame on Bailley.

That poor positioning has cost goals before as it's forced Lindeloff\Bailey in to cover and left AwB with a decision to come in to the goal or stay out wide. Either way were left with a rake load of space for a runner or a free man on the post.

Top 5 CB in the league my arse.

Little to no coordination at the back

    Maguire is not a leader

Rio slating the CBs and rightfully so

The more you watch it the worse it is from Maguire.

I don't mind if a team scores against United if they're well worked goals, screamers, etc. Goals happen.

What bugs me most is stupid errors, schoolboy errors and United love to concede a shít goal down to individual errors. Infuriating stuff.

Plenty time left to win it but as always, that United defence doesn't fill me with confidence, always seems to be a mistake in them.

Bailly and Maguire the culprits here imo.

Rio mentions it but goes very easy on them.
