Has to be a 4-4-2, can't imagine Bruno playing out wide with Rashford as the striker.

It’s worrying because we don’t have too many players that can create something.

Look at the bench, I’d rather have Martial to bring on in a wide area than any of those guys..

    No Martial is worrying.

Dont be so negative :) ..... No Pogba is positive.

  • Not sure why 'no Martial is a worry'

He's had a very poor season so far

    Won't be missed today

    Greenwood starting. Guaranteed a goal.

Will be interesting to see exactly how they set up, rashford/fernandes/Greenwood means that the majority of play will probably come through the middle, I would have preferred to see Cavani start and a little bit more width, as he would be able to occupy the CB's a lot more and open space up for the others

DVDB and Fernandes starting in the prem league? Do my eyes deceive me?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,758 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

And not a Pogba to be seen.... hallelujah

Curious to see who plays further forward, Donny or Bruno.

I like the look of this 433 formation.

Bruno surely. Why neuter our strongest attacking player.

Glad Ings isnt available but Che Adams will annoy our backline all day. Hes a thorny player with a great work rate.

I like this starting lineup, only other player I’d really like in is Cavani. I guess tactics may prohibit it but he’s the best striker or target man at the club by a mile.

Martial and Rashford are not reliable strikers, I think a player like Cavani helps them do their thing better.

Not worried about Martials absence, I’m still unsure whether he’s ever going to find consistency to be a solid team addition for the season.

Hope VDB plays well, really want to see him own a spot

  • Has to finish

Not like Greenwood to miss that

  • VDB impressive start

  • Yellow ffs

    Yellow ffs

and the tackle on donny, ref being very lenient to Southampton so far. Bet a United player is the first one booked in this game.

  • Southampton pure dirty with the tackles today

I knew that was going in the second Ward Prowse stepped over it.

    Awful defending

    FFs.

Terrible defending. But we should prob be a goal up. Now let’s see what thus team is made of. Harsh to be down but this happens.

Rashford watching his man instead of the ball

I'd love to have someone who can take corners like Ward Prowse

They’re being let away with a tonne of cynical fouls. Another one just there and not even a warning.

We struggled against this crowd last season as well. They're above us in the table for a reason.

They actually started really well, didn’t get any breaks and conceded a poor goal. Usually when we lose we have been terrible and very deserving of defeat.

Need to get their sh*t together here though. Ref needs to start giving a few yellows cause Southampton are fouling all the time.

He’s absolutely lethal from set plays, probably the best in the league.

We have Telles who can put in a similar cross, his corners against PSG were unreal and then we go and put him on outswinging ones since, only us.

Soton cutting thru us with ease

Whiff of a moral victory off of this game. Liverpool territory.

Whatever about the original mistake, two huge saves by McCarthy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,054 ✭✭✭wanderer100

How did we not score that !!!

    Greenwood is too greedy

You'd want us to put these to the sword, but it's highly unlikely.

Nah, I was just saying when we’ve lost this season we have deserved it. I think we are unlucky here. Poor ref (letting Southampton kick us out of the game) and poor finishing is costing us.

Greenwood and Bruno need to be scoring there between them, shocking.
