    Do you get to pick your maternity hospital by choice or is it purely whichever one is closer to where you live ?

    You can go wherever you want but do consider location in terms of what will be the easiest hospital to get to if you're in a major hurry when baby comes, where will be easier for parking, appointments throughout pregnancy, partner visiting when baby comes. Many hospitals have midwife led care at satellite centres but if your pregnancy is deemed in any way high risk or complicated they wont allow you to attend the midwife clinic and all appointments will be at the hospital so bare that in mine.
