If there is widespread voter fraud then that is saying the American voting system is open to fraud. That puts America in the same camp as some banana republic full of corruption.

Is that really the message Trump wants to put out after he has been in power for four years. If American elections can't be trusted it would be the fault of those in power.

Have you not been following the events of the past 4 years? It goes: if anything bad happened under Trump's presidency, it was Obama's fault.

Yes, he’s been saying that for months. Mail in ballots with no verification is not as secure as in-person verified by ID. That’s not controversial.

We knew this was going to be the case though if it was close/he lost. He'll be gone soon anyway. A crushing blow to the global far right and conspiraloons.

I wouldn't call it a crushing blow ( it is to Trump himself) because if Donald could run Biden that close it should be pretty easy to find someone to beat him in 4 years time,

Even if Trump was actually talking about not counting votes that were yet to be delivered in PA, the numbers on the morning of the 4th were already showing that there was enough remaining vote to be counted to flip it to Biden.

Anything still to be delivered to the counting centre wouldn't have been included in the number of votes left to count at that point. To suggest that Trump was talking about votes yet to be delivered rather than actually to stop counting any votes is complete rubbish.

Not sure about that. Biden is a fairly weak candidate. The two weakest tickets in living memory.

Biden may not run in 4 years. He'll be 82. Whatever happens, both parties need a serious rethink for 2024.

I just googled it and am a bit ashamed to have fallen for that now. What sick mind sat down and concocted something like that when it can be easily disproved?

The question you need to ask is what other disinformation are they putting out and have/would you have fallen for that too?

Theres a good chance Biden won’t run for a second term and the potential VP is being groomed for that.

huge turnout for biden among the dead community

Huge turnout by Republicans for the dead community.....they elected a dead person in North Dakota.

If you had said to the Democrats at the beginning of the year that they would have a candidate who went up against a Trump who increased his total vote, would win MI, WI, probably PA, Arizona and possibly Georgia (!), they'd have taken your hand off. The only reason Democrats are disappointed is because they thought they had a chance at Texas (!). Biden was the right candidate for the right time, and his team kept their focus on the states which mattered.

How many other things do reckon you’ve believed that aren’t real? Do you spend a lot of time on Twitter?

Crazy to think about 2024 but it could well be an all female race Harris V Haley which would be unique in itself

Well, maybe next time GOP will try again with a candidate for which people won't be ashamed or concerned to express public support.

I'd say it's almost guaranteed that he'll step aside before his term ends and let Harris take over. She won't be primaried and can go for another 2 terms.

Don't think it is perfect but there is not wholesale fraud. If anything the postal vote stops the Republicans from using their voter suppression tactics.

We are far from perfect in Ireland. Dead people have voted here for years after they pass away.

I know several people who changed their vote to their new constituency here but were not taken off their original constituency's list. So if they chose to, they could vote twice.

Akin to Bobby Sands getting elected to parliament? Although granted, he wasn't fully dead at that stage.

When the dust settles, this will be a convincing win for Biden and on reflection a great one. Its the senate where the Dems will be disapointed, all the money pumped into races but they couldnt get rid of vermin like McConnell and Graham

How is he a weak candidate? 70 million votes and counting. Trump has increased his vote share from 2016 and Biden is still beating him. If you’d offered that to the democrats that a year or two ago they’d have taken it in a heartbeat.

They need new leadership in the house and senate. The current leadership have been useless.

Is it the same type deal in the states though? Their elections baffle me

    A 100% chance.

Biden is a transitional leader, a safe pair of hands with 50 years in Congress and the White House who can cool everybody's jets. But he's no Roosevelt. Is Harris? We'll see, but her main job is to bring on young talent all around.

Such accusations have been thrown out like confetti around this thread and not one poster throwing them out has provided one scintilla of evidence to back them up.

For people who support the 'fake news' crying President, it's the height of irony.

Would disagree, Pelosi has played a masterclass in political terms against Trump. She is way too smart for him politically

They clearly baffle most Americans as well which is part of the problem I think. Trump hasn’t a clue how it works either.

    He is desperately weak.

Any candidate with any charisma or X factor would have romped past Trump..

Most are voting Biden because Trump is insanely bad...

I hope Biden wins, but he is a really weak candidate..

This is the thing. Brexit and Trumps win in 2016 (and his constant lieing strategy for 2020) are not the first examples of how misinformation can be used to swing elections. Social media has made it so easy to sow doubt and fake ideals about things. Look at the COVID thread and how uninformed so many people are about it and who continually just follow the information and sources they want to believe, it’s not just political.

If a person is accused of being racist or a rapist (or something like this), this stigma may stay with them forever even if they prove beyond doubt it’s a lie. This is why Trump keeps throwing out lies, some of them stick regardless of what’s proven and those believing it are not interested in discussing the validity of those lies.

I am still amazed that he got the ticket - it was always going to make it harder for them.
