way too late... only the diehards are playing it now... its just too sterile, boring , jets are still crap etc.. barring a miracle this is really the end of battlefield. Each one has been getting worse and worse. And then they just jumped off a cliff for 2142.

As an alternative to 2042, which battlefield would be most similar to Battlefield One for the online multiplayer game? It was the only BF I played before 2042 and I loved it.

I'd say BFV is an option. Still broadly similar gameplay, still has a userbase.

It's on a free trial for the weekend on Steam until the 5th.

I am a big fan of this game features new maps and game modes, including a 128-player count for all-out multiplayer battles, and introduces a new class system with specialists that bring unique abilities to the battlefield. "Battlefield 2042" promises to deliver epic and immersive multiplayer experiences for players.

New class update came out yesterday, takes some getting used to with the specialist hybrid mix but has a lot of potential.

Breakaway rework is great. It's like a brand new map. Can accept the game sucked at launch, and it won't ever be perfect, but I respect them for trying to fix their mistakes as much as possible when it's probably deviated wildly from their original content pipeline before all the backlash.

Lets see what's in store for S4 and beyond.

Yeah it's been on track for a while now. Shame the launch set it back so much.

Would most folks say this game is worth playing now? - Considering buying it but not sure :)

I think It's brilliant at the moment. Played it for 6 hours non stop last night and really enjoyed it. Season 4 kicks off in about 10 days too so brings another map and the last specialist.

I've been playing it regularly now. The general consensus is that it's now much improved, with the return of classes giving it a much more Battlefield feel to it.

I'm back playing it on the PS5 again after months of not bothering. It has improved and feels fun to play. Deleted the latest COD on the same day I returned to BF. My one and only bug bear is I keep getting dropped into games that are well under way or nearly over every so often.

Yea, I'm sinking the hours into it again, classes and the map reworks have really helped a lot. Season 4 only round the corner too with new map, new rework, guns etc. Most curious about season 5 now that there'll be no more specialists after Camila..

EA have polished this turd quite a bit since launch, but it's still a turd. Gunplay, movement, maps etc are all simply awful. It was on sale for a tenner over Christmas and even at that price I would struggle to recommend it.

I must give it a go again myself out of curiosity just to see what they've done.

I'll reserve judgement but the launch game was so unbelievably bad - maps, gameplay, weapons, vehicles, UI, specialists, etc, I find it hard to believe they could do anything other than make it better as opposed to being an actual good Battlefield game.

Still enjoying it and feel it's changed a hell of a lot since launch. Still doesn't hold a candle to the previous titles, but I think they've taken on board a lot of feedback. I'm having fun again and enjoying the new maps etc.

A relief to hear that, I didn't want to think we'd steered you wrong.

This is €18 on steam now so I'm giving it a go finally, it's surely worth that much since the general consensus seems to be that it's a lot better now than on launch. I still don't understand why people pay full whack on launch for a product they know will be half finished at best.

Just downloaded for free on ps5, guns keep automatically firing without me pressing the trigget, so infuriating

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,475 ✭✭✭Damien360

I play on PS5. They don't do that for me. What gun and class and map are you using when that happens.
