Part of Bidens election drive was calling out the president's mishandling of the Covid crisis, so if he is the president elect him then him and his team should be practicing what they preach and at least call for restraint amongst there supporters.

Trump was organising indoor rallies where nobody wore masks... Biden literally didn't campaign door to door or run traditional rallies because of the risk. He's already announced a covid team is being organised. He's taking it a hell of a lot more seriously than Trump ever did.

We are just pointing out the double standards yet we have posters sticking childish memes up mocking trump supporters, what we posted above is based on Biden gatherings that happened yesterday. Responsible thing to have done was for Biden and his camp to advise supporters not to gather in large groups and where they have to disperse.

I said it yesterday that if this was the republicans celebrating like this there would be uproar, which is true. It would be an example of how both sides are so entrenched against each other, it sort of explains why they always find it hard to find common ground.

But any supporter of Trump or the republicans can feck right off if they think they have any sort moral authority on the topic. From a virus POV it’s wreckless, but from a human POV it’s understandable if not a misguided reaction to 4 years of torture watching Trump debase their country and what it stands for or is supposed to stand for.

The lack of self reflection and ability to understand this is quite remarkable and shameful from Trumps strongest supporters. There are so many things about Trump that are wrong, unethical, immoral and just set him apart from any president (democrat/republican) that’s not the good thing his supporters want to believe. He’s more dangerous and done more damage to American interests internally and globally then you could understand.

I mean it’s remarkable that all the innuendo surrounding him, the Russian connections, the close connections with people who end up in jail or certainly with questions marks over their motives, it’s quite remarkable that any Trump fan has the audacity to hold the democrats to a higher bar for one night of them being perfectly human. Trump is consistently divisive , shamelessly deluded and used the position for himself every day he was in office. Shame on the republicans for allowing it and shame on his supporters for always pointing the finger elsewhere instead of objectively seeing their president for what he was.

You can blame the craven GOP politicians in the House and Senate who constantly supported his malice and incompetence. And then you could blame the people who voted for those cowards.

Definitely the highlight so far was that presser. There was also a crematorium across the road! :D

So your just going to blame over 70million American people for the division and the rest of the country has no fault in the division, yeah that's a good plan to bring the country together, vitriolic remarks have been coming from both sides.

If old Joe crokes his VP will be the first female president. Worth a small bet.

Lads here need to calm down. The only event that had crowds organised by Joe was at the speech last night in Wilmington. Most people were wearing masks and close to their own vehicles. I think they can be forgiven due to the moment that it was. The spontaneous celebrations across the country were NOT organised events. No need to get your knickers in a twist over that.

Is Biden officially President Elect or is he still technically forecasted as President Elect?

"both sides". No I didn't blame only Republicans don't put words in my mouth. There are some on the left that only want maga tears. However they are vastly outnumbered by people only seeming to care about Liberal tears.

A democrat leader gave a speech last about working with Republicans to cheers and honks.

How many republicans called out Trump when he stated he would only act on behalf of those who voted for him? I heard silence. How many called out his recent ramblings? Romney and?

You say you aren't talking about Trump because he is divisive. Well 70 million voted for more division. And damn near every Republican elected official has been lock step beside Trump for all those divisive policies. The Non Trump ist Republicans are currently a minor subsection.

Go take a hike with "both sides".

When the criticism is coming from the same posters that were lauding Trump's super spreader rallies for their enthusiasm and support, you just to have to laugh!

I could put up a picture of a Biden rally and a picture of a Trump rally. But I couldn't be arsed.

God this really is one to savour. Trump is such a classless, base, ignorant oaf- the fact that for the first time in his arrogant life there’s a decision he can’t buy, sue to overturn (he’ll make pathetic attempts) is so satisfying.
Dignified World leaders like Macron, Merkel, May, Trudeau etc that he’d insulted, undermined and belittled must be also beaming today with the rest of us.
Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see this one term failure and the whole of his rotten family turfed out on their miserable arses come January by the secret service

Imagine - Donald Trump's going to go down in history as a US president so bad that he made Biden look like Obama by comparison.

I bet Trump loses to this guy at Super Punch-Out, as well.

Seriously tho, there does need to be an understanding of this mess. There is a dangerous period ahead where Trump can still push division. He won't let go without a fight.

I'm not sure the way out. If a republican comes out and joins in the calls for peace, then it's just us Vs the them (where them is the establishment).

If Trump took some responsibility, that would help - but will never happen.

    Dangerous and uncharted times ahead.

The point isn't valid in the context of the post. Unlike Trump, Biden did not organise crowds and rallies like this. There are both dumb Democrats and dumb Republicans, the dangerous thing is when the leader himself is dumb and organises such rallies and encourages people to attend such rallies.

Yes. Biden certainly didn’t organise busloads to transport people (some w/o masks) to his events.

I am sure, the excitement made them forget the pandemic for a short while, but everyone I saw was wearing a mask and taking parts in outside gatherings.

I can imagine the Trump-supporters gatherings would have been completely different, in the case of a Trump win.
More in the style of the Trump campaign gatherings (aka “super-spreader events“).

No. The both sides thing is a crock, let's all grow up and leave it where it belongs in the bin of "comforting but detached from reality" ideas.

There is no middle ground with somebody whose whole political identity is about screwing you over. Even logically that doesn't work. What can you offer them to compromise, let them screw you over half as much as they want?

If one guy says "I want to be a complete arsehole to that guy over there", and the other guy doesn't want to be bffs, it would look absurd to blame both. The burden of fixing the issue lies with the first guy.

Trump's voters had four years to come to terms with what he is, and they only doubled down. There aren't any excuses for them left, and there is no point wasting time trying to reason with them. Trump's appeal to them is not rational.

The Dems won not by turning off Trump voters or winning them over, but by turning out even more people than that 70 million number, by a huge margin. They could have won by even more if voter supression hadn't been the GOPs sole engagement with their voting base, or if red state Dems weren't historically discouraged - and after Georgia, a lot of that has changed.

That's where the future is, bringing out their own voters, current and potential. Wasting any more time and resources trying to mollycoddle angry douchebags who nakedly despise you is how you wind up spending millions to lose in one state you might have used to win another. Leave them where they are.

Well, he's President-elect until January 20. It's a term that was added by the 20th amendment in 1933.

Yea, even the right wing media now have dropped trump like a hot snot. Editorials in the Sun telling him to get out “with dignity”- once the mood changes they usually blow with it. They want to move onto new stories.
Leaves Boris Johnson looking somewhat isolated now on the world stage- I’m expecting him to change to a more conciliatory warming tone in recognition of the changed landscape

Will have to disagree, you cant tarnish over 70million people with the one brush, they had reasons why they voted trump and its not because they are all fascists racists etc. The dems have lost congressional seats and probably wont win the senate. NO side can chest pump too much as victors here, listening has to occur from both sides.

That's doubtful. Even McConnell, back in September, said there would be an orderly transition. Trump needs to be steered to that ground and that could take a while.

Boris could be in a tricky spot having pinned UK post brexit hopes on a trump deal.
Apparently Obama administration staff had/have a very poor opinion of him.

This was an important part of Biden's victory. He didn't bow to the woke element who didn't want Harris on the ticket due to her supposed "transphobic" views. They realised that the vocal progressives on Twitter do not represent mainstream views. John Kasich referenced it on CNN yesterday and said that Biden would have won by a lot more if he had come out earlier to denounce the Antifa, defund the police nonsense.

Masks are only a band-aid. People should not be gathering in large groups in close proximity under any circumstances during a pandemic. Yes Biden has not orchestrated these gatherings but he has not done everything in his power to prevent them. IMO in his first speech after it became clear he was going to win, he should have appealed to his supporters not to gather in groups to celebrate, and when the first footage of such celebrations appeared, he should have called for it to stop.
