Anyway re Trump being a racist..I still don't think people voting for him necessarily are.

I also think Trumps racism is far more casual than some would believe (doesn't make it right). To be dedicated to it he would actually have to give two sh!ts about anyone but himself.

The same here, i dont think all of his supporters are racists. However, those that aren't racists dont care that Trump is.

It was racist then and it is racist now.

never disagreed with that. the content hasn't changed , the perception has. People are much more in tune these days to whats racist and calling it out when they see it , which is a good thing. The bad thing is many people judge sins of the past by modern standards or are too likely to think something is racist when its not.

No it hasn't. It would have been considered racist at the time. Now maybe if he said it in 1967 you might have a point but not in 1987.

No it hasn't, not since the 80s. I don't know if you're mixing up gay rights with black rights or something, but if you said "laziness is a trait in blacks" in the 80s, you would be labelled a racist.

If we were ever to learn, maybe ten years or more from now, that this election actually was fraudulently conducted and that President Trump really was cheated out of a valid victory.... that's the only thing that would make this even funnier.

I think if they did it in 2020 - yes , in 1987 - I think people wouldn't dwell too much. As I said, thankfully times change.

I'm pretty sure that remark would have been viewed as racist as hell even in the eighties...

Here is a quick example for you. Al Campanis was the general manger of the LA Dodgers in 1987 when he said blacks "may not have some of the necessities to be, let's say, a field manager, or, perhaps, a general manager". He was then fired 48 hours later for his remarks.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Campanis#Racial_comments

Was he fired because he was a racist? Yes.
Would what Trump said in the late 80s also label him as a racist at that time? Yes.
Are you living in a bubble? Yes.

In late 80s america I don't think that comment would have somebody branded a racist. I think its a racist comment , but a racist comment or handful of racist comments do not make someone a racist. Same for bidens racial jungle comments etc... the 80s were very very different to now.

So he isn't a racist he just says racist things? is that where we are at? And while the 80's were a different time what he said would still have been considered racist at the time

It's not keyboard warrior stuff, it's him simply mixing up things a little.
I'm one who'll never give up as long as I can do something about it.
This is different in that mathematics tell you it's over.
It was racist then and it is racist now.
I don't think it would be considered racist back then. Generalisations like that were commonplace and if you disagreed you might say it but you'd never hear anybody saying it was racist.
It is racist, I'm just saying that back then it was acceptable.

How young are people on Boards? :pac:

It was totally considered racist in the 80s, and I've provided an example demonstrating that.

We will have to agree to differ on that. i was in my late teens in 1987 and from my recollection it would definitely have been considered racist back then.

I was watching Roots a few week's ago on tv. That was the 90s and the daughter of the slave owner called one of the girls my little Nig Ger friend. You wouldn't see that on tv now.

As time goes on, the brilliance of the Democrats picking Biden as candidate (whether they realised it or not) becomes apparent.

As a character study for how people expect their American President to be he is pretty much impeccable. The Republicans can't demonise him personally. They can try to say he is a socialist, and it is working with some groups, but on the whole their attacks are weak. They are trying to undermine the system itself because they have no strong attacks against the candidate, and it's a weak offensive game.

That's an example of how snowflakey society has become. It has nothing to do with what was considered racist now compared to then. It's a TV show.

I thought it was first broadcast on sky in the 90s, the series's? My bad.

Biden is exactly who needs to be in the White House now. A civil, respectful adult man who has a long history of politics and working with people.

The humvee clowns trying to get to the count centre, the Governor kidnap plots etc. The fact so many Dems are out celebrating at once may be keeping a bit of manners on them.

I wonder though if Trump's ongoing insistence he can somehow turn this around is holding them back too. Deranged, but not the most mental thing the Q anon crowd have been able to make themselves believe. If and when he finally gives up the ghost and reality sinks in, there could be a very rapid storm in crackpot land, right now they're still expecting his fraud stuff to materialise into something.

Btw, per Q crackpots, Four Seasons Total Landscaping is a DNC moneylaundering front and it was chosen to signal to the secret Dem illuminati that they were on notice.

    100%

The Republicans are currently all over social media, literally throwing Trump under the bus, they are actually disgusted by him and the manner of this election fight... they realize after their hard work for their party and people, over decades, this guy is only out for himself... serious lasting damage to the Republicans that will last a long time. Mad...

In any democracy, company, corporation, sports team, THE most important call is who you allow attain positions of trust, leadership and influence... the Republicans and the Americans got this one wrong with Trump! In a BIG way...Although so did the Democratic Party with Hilary last time out.

They are going back to Georgia to count some missed ballots. Fulton county area.

"Brendan Keefe, chief investigator at Atlanta’s WXIA, says that the issue “*may* significantly affect the current Biden lead in Georgia.”

Everyone can see what's going to happen a mile off.

The misplaced votes will be counted and rather than Trump gaining ground Biden will just pull ahead further.

very possibly it was shown on Sky in the 1990s but at the same time it is very difficult to have a series about slavery without using the N word

Only for Trump Hilary Crook would be getting ready to serve her second Term. Republicans had not answer to Trump or her.
