Ah c'mon, I know he's taking it badly and all but... we keep hearing about the violence of his supporters. I'm not being combative but if it was the other way round cities would be being looted and riots would be going on. Even when he was ahead the other night some Trump supporters got stabbed in DC. I'm not ruling out some crazy stuff from his supporters, it's a highly tense situation but I feel he will do some flapping in the court and then go off in a huff.

I was wrong about the election result so maybe I'll be wrong again, not exactly on a roll

I know Trump did damage but I'm telling you the major issues with journalism are not something that can be addressed, it's such a deep rot. I remember back when he said the press is the enemy of the people I had the same reaction as most knowing the significance of the phrase and being like 'oh f*ck here we go' However, over the years I've realised just how right he was. I don't want to get too deep into journalism, but here goes lol:

There seems to be a lot if career journalist that trot out the daily press release of the gov and not much more.
The press secretaries and spin doctors have been playing them for years. It leads the reporters (I'll use that instead of journalists) to go down the FOMO route.. fear of missing out being invited to the party.. no more future press releases and no more career title 'senior Fox/BBC reporter' or whatever.

At the same time, real journalism had been in decline. Investigative journalism just doesn't pay the bills anymore.

Add to this a rise in clickbait to sell online copy.

Then on top of that, social media and very aggressive business models have totally skewed what people consume as news.

All these problems exist and this has been exploited by people like Trump. The media isn't fake, but it is in decline and the decline plays well into Trumps narrative.

Couple that with the technology point. Data scientist can calculate mass manipulation ad campaigns. When you begin to understand that, the picture starts to come together.

That last bit is tough because most people just don't understand social media (including Google searches and YouTube), how recommendation engines work and how the funding model actively works against us to ensure we get caught deeply in our own biases.

Trump has a hard time letting things go. Losing the election has to be the greatest failure of his professional life. Worse than mere failure, in fact. He *lost*. He can't handle losing. He must find an explanation, a scapegoat, a way to process it, something that puts him on top even just in his own mind. He has a potential 70 million supporters. Doubtful each one of them will back him up, but even half of that would be a massive amount of people. He's not going to jack in all that adulation to huff off quietly into the night. Interesting times ahead, I think, although I'd prefer boring times for a change. Things have been just a bit too interesting lately.
