And again... I always have an issue with identity politics , religion is no different.

Had an issue with biden in 08 as he was clearly there to get fence sitting GOP voters over the line die to his previous views on abortion, race mixing etc.. he’s about one of the most centerist candidates (by only US standards)

Had an issue with pence in 16 as im not into the bible thumpers at all

Have an issue with harris for the obvious tickbox marking for race and gender.

The biggest difference this time is joe is the first present to admit it was identity first, experience secondary.

Fair enough. I don't necessarily agree with what you're saying, but at least it's consistent.

how does that compare on a per capita basis with any other country?

    deaths: 10th per capita.
    cases: 16th per capita

given the fact that the US is the 3rd most traveled to destination, you can understand why those stats would be high?

did trump not try to shut down that travel? maybe i'm mis remembering

America has 4% of the world population yet ~20% of total Covid cases and deaths. Along with Brazil more than 1/3 of all Covid deaths are from those two countries.

WowThat's a really poor stat for Trump.

Who gives a flying **** how you compare to others when you have 230k dead and roughly 1k per day dieing.

Get your house in order and cop on....

And no he did not actually shut down travel there were still a metric ****tonne of flights into the US from infected areas just the same as we didn’t shut down flights.

Lifestyle choices are killing them with a touch of Covid thrown in.

Dignified and energetic victory speech by Joe Biden earlier. Kamala Harris is a very impressive person in terms of her charisma, intelligence and experience.

I really hope the USA can try to begin to move on and put the Trump years behind them.

Anyone else think he’s start a siege at the White House come January?

    re the siege, not really.

i have one issue and i hope he proves me wrong:

pick people based on their merits. if he picks people for any other reason, i will know he's gone too far to the left.

same as in ireland, no minister from the west...irrelevant, they are picked on their merits (few bad picks as it turns out).

    It's a good start

its hard to argue with that in fairness!

Yeah, the lifestyle choice to not take basic precautions in a pandemic.

Yeah, the lifestyle choice to not take basic precautions in a pandemic.

In Ireland in a month you might see a single person so obese they wouldn't be physically able to wipe their own hole, in America you would see at least one of these people an hour.

Yeah, the lifestyle choice to not take basic precautions in a pandemic.

Americans... was always going to happen, just naturally don’t trust in anything a government says.
Its silly but was always going to happen

You were saying Biden is bad because he was involved in overseas military engagements. That was showing that Trump has been engaged in more bombing in Afghanistan than Obama, and by implication Biden.

No US president is angelic when it comes to overseas millitary activities, so criticising Biden in this regard serves no purpose. There is no higher standard you can criticise Biden for not meeting

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,664 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

Double degree qualified, former California Attorney General and senator is in your mind a 'token candidate'. But the repeated failed venture business man, first time elected office candidate was just right for the role.

Those of us who read your posts here might think you would hold such a view, and then you just go and type it out yourself to leave no doubt.

Its not surprising really from him, any simple analysis of his posts in the past shows that he hates immigrants or anyone who does not have the same skin colour as him. This same poster has advocated for the murder of migrants and tried to tell us that George Floyd was responsible for his own death and not the police officer who pressed his knee into his neck for more than eight minutes until he could no longer breathe.

So to go from that to attacking a black woman like Kamala Harris is just an extension of what he really thinks. He already announced on here last night that he is looking forward to his next four years of attacking Biden and Harris. He didnt ever have the decorum to actually give them a chance for a couple of months before making his mind up. And then he comes on here moaning about identity politics and all after the four years of his hero Trump that everyone has been through, lord suffering jesus

I'm not a Trumpanzee. I'm a socialist. Yer infantile tribal talking points won't wash here. Ye'll have to actually come up with substantive arguments.

It serves no purpose to criticise warmongers??

The massacring of innocent civilians should just be blindly accepted?

    Absolutely absurd statement.

a larger population...a larger proportion will catch measles? you can understand that premise?

more people arriving, more people will catch measles?

yes, the absolute number will big be bigger in the country with the larger population.

    that's why you support someone?

X is a wanker (in your IMO). Y Isnt X.

    i'll support Y.

    is that your reasoning?
Suppose there were only 2 makes of car available, SplutterStall & CreakBreak

If you bought one of those makes and it fell apart, which would you buy next ?

As the well known parable goes -- "Never bite a shy dog twice"

to keep the analogy going, did you buy x 1st time round?

Wasn't it a breath of fresh air to hear a US President talk of unity, inclusion, family. One with a positive message and with some hope for the future?

    It's been a while!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,343 ✭✭✭dwayneshintzy

Biden is likely to win by more than 5m votes (based on popular vote), and will get just around Trump's EC victory margin from 2016 (potentially even higher).

Trump didn't shut up about how his win over Clinton was a landslide, this is significantly more emphatic.

yes, the absolute number will big be bigger in the country with the larger population.

And none of what you have said above has any relevance to my point of constantly comparing to other countries.

Yeah and Ii have to admit I've been very impressed by him the last couple of days.
I feel I have to withdraw my comments about him being a poor candidate.

Love it. Love that he didn't mention Trump also. No point in legitimising the child.
....except that he was legitimately voted in as the US President at the last election and has served as such for the past 4 years.
No matter how much you hate him, it's this attitude that causes so much division.

This has been cracking me up for hours now. Every time someone posts about it. :D:D:D:D

JFC I only realised now that this was a Fcuk up!!! I just presumed they had picked a location because it was nearby the count centre. What an absolute cock-up. And the fact that they went ahead with it rather than cancelling is just further evidence of their ineptitude. Unsurprising given Giuliani's proximity to it.

That whole Hunter Biden laptop story was probably concocted by and sold to Giuliani by an Uber driver just to pass a few minutes when bringing to the Borat movie set.

    i'm confused there TBH.

i said with a higher population density and with higher travel a density, you'd get more spread

politics aside, you can concede that is true?

So its the comments of the strangers on the internets that has caused the division in America over the last couple of years, and nothing to them with himself?

Inauguration should be interesting, with no donny, he 'll probably be too busy that day, doing his arts and crafts maybe, hopefully he doesn't eat the crayons

I have been laughing so hard at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping thing that I think I might be in the edge of genuine hysteria. The crematorium. The sex shop with the dildo sale. The fact it's not even the front of the building, it's the car park. This could be the very edge of madness.

I think it'll be prudent to wait and see what he actually does (as opposed to what he says) before making any retractions.

Biden is every bit the milquetoast candidate people were calling him. But strong enough to lance that obese boil in the the White House.

Any other year, though, and it would have been a miracle for him to win.

His true tests will come in 2021 and if he can do anything at all to simmer down the boiling piss pot that is America right now, it'll be a victory of sorts.
