Trump Supporters - Help me Understand?

Trump gets a lot of slack around here but also gets more support than I would have expected. He's just got the 2nd amount of votes ever for an election - despite the dumpster fire of a presidential term. I really want to know what's going through the head of people who genuinely support him as I want to understand...

He started his campaign saying Mexicans are rapists and he wants to ban Muslims. He made a load of big promises about Only he can fix it, and he's a successful businessman who will run the country properly - we now know he's broke and broke most of his promises. He didn't build the wall, Mexico didn't pay for it, he didn't defeat ISIS. He has zero plans for healthcare, he's planned to cut Medicare and medicare. He didn't drain the swamp

He didn't divest his businesses, and he spends most of the day watching tv and tweeting. He constantly says horrible things to people apart from authoritarian dictators who he cosies to. His list of accomplishments is incredibly short.

Why, oh Why, would you vote for 4 more years of this? Biden is no superman but he seems like a good guy who cares for people. The democrats want to bring in Universal healthcare, free public college, prison reform, drug reform, climate change etc - the right is mostly scaring people about Mexicans, Antifa and Socialism, while giving tax cuts to billionaires.

I get that people don't like the woke and PC culture of the left - neither do I it needs to end, but do you hate it enough to blindly ignore all the above? What is it that makes people want to vote more of this?

I think it's simplistic to assume that anybody who voted Trump must have supported all his policies or loved all his comments (and by extension, are all gullible fools or horrible bigots).


There was an article on the BBC a few days ago in which different voters offered their reasons, and one was a woman who had invented some kind of 'Lego blanket' - a blanket for kids to do lego on that folds up into a carry bag of some kind. She was having real trouble with cheap Chinese knockoffs, and, in her mind, Trump would protect her more than Biden regarding copyright. That was what mattered to her.

There are going to be people like that all over America, who held their noses and voted for the guy who they think will leave them with more money in their wallets. Same as anywhere in the world.

Sure, there are people screaming loudly on both sides, but not a huge amount. For the majority, I'd say the issues were much more traditional.

Now that the impeccable knights in shining armour have crawled on their bellies to try and eke out a desperate victory over the monster painted as a cross between Caligula and Hitler, I sincerely hope that their policies are implemented. I hope AOC and her wild eyed brigade get to make their lists of those who dare to veer from the path of righteousness. May those on the lists be punished! Hopefully in the dead of night. I hope the police forces are all defunded and some kind of happyclappy law and order system is implemented between those holding the lines in communitues everywhere between chaos and all the poor people who do not give a single fcuk for society. I hope they all get free TVs to stop them starving, and Nikes, and whatever else they can haul out through broken glass. I hope reparations become an immediate thing. A significant surcharge on the taxes of all white people because black lives matter. I hope more and more academic institutions, departments and accommodation facilities in Universities become segregated along racial lines because progressiveness. Heck, buses too, the subways. Cannot get too much of a good thing. I hope every single matter of policy is viewed and handled going forwards through the lens of strict intersectional identity politics and that every committee will meet adequate representation quotas for transgender people, indigenous people, differently abled people, furries and social media influencers. I hope biological sex is eliminated as a reality, all children can have easy access to pubertal blockers if their proud Moms want it, thruples can raise a super human breed of sexless theybes and big chaps can run in all the races with the girls. I hope the world is saved from any more war, financial disasters, drone bombings, immigration controls of any sort, all environmental damage, climate change, and corona virus. Come on, man! I'm riden with the Bidens (like a million other girls, it seems). You can do it!!
