Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Christ that’s a weak week team, realistically none of our team would get near the England squad. Depressing really.

Doherty probably the best bet since they’re playing 3 at the back with wingbacks, would suit him down to the ground.

That team is going to get mullered.

Might not even watch this. Nothing friendly.

That England midfield of Winks and Mount is not great at all, but I’m not sure we have the players up front or between the lines to be able to take advantage of that unfortunately. That looks like the area to attack though, right between Winks and the CB’s, trying to get goal-facing possession in and around that line to play in one of the wide forwards making a run.

I agree it's a depressing team but the England midfield is far from first choice too. I expect an England win but I'm more interested in our performance than the result. I want to see are we improved with the ball and is the persistence with Hendrick justified, or will we still be reliant upon set-pieces. Are we improved without the ball and is there an organisation to our defensive shape, or will it be haphazard again. I can stomach a loss if I see some positives that suggests better days to come. My worry is there won't be any.

These are truly dark days for Ireland fans.

4-0 England. An absolute horsing, I’d say.

Watching it on ITV here in the UK. What the hell is Ian Wright on about talking about the match in 1995? He was saying that the anthems weren't played before the game. Is this true?!

McClean red card 5 minutes in, followed by a dogged 0-0 draw for the boys in RTE to give them a heroes analysis.

    COYBIG

There was an arrangement made between the Fai & the Fá sometime in the early 80s that if both teams met, only the home sides anthem would be played.

    That might be tricky.

Grealish wasn't holding back on the queen song anyway.

Just watched there, it must of been a previous meeting between the two.

Don't think this will be pretty. Hopefully we're not beaten by too much.

Also badly missing the crowd noise

Why are they bothering having it in Wembley? Wouldn’t it make just as much sense to play it in George’s Park or a lower league stadium with a decent pitch when there aren’t any fans allowed in?? Must cost a fortune to open Wembley or any big stadium.

If we can keep this at 0-0 for the first half they will be doing well

    Peace and long life.

They should have put a jersey on Duff and a tracksuit and earpiece on Horgan.

'British Isles' and 'Home nations' mentioned by ITV already

Same with the Aviva but they're opening it for the FAI cup final. Don't know why.

The women's final was moved to Tallaght which is a bit s*ite of the FAI.

    Playing well here

Few lovely bits of play there from Ireland.

Good tempo to the game in fairness.

I was thinking the same for Ireland. Tallaght could be used for Ireland games too during Covid, wouldn’t cost half as much as the Aviva.

It may not be as suitable for the media as the Aviva.
I think that was one issue cited by Dundalk using it for Europa League games. There was a higher cost incurred compared to the Aviva, due to setting it up appropriately for the media.

Quality of TV angles might be an issue perhaps? Not as much height and not as many camera positions in Tallaght I’d guess.

Aviva by contrast is just ready to go for TV..

Do home and away jerseys not exist any more, both teams in secondary colours

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52,404 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

    We’re feckin poxed.
Egan off with a head injury.
We’re playing good football too which is nice to see.

Surely it's the sponsors forcing it. I assume teams have to wear the away/alternative kits 'x' amount of times as they want to shift them.

Would have to be a chap with an Irish name that scores. Duffy could have done better there.

    <Insert David Bowie - this is not America.mp3 here>

We don't need to be adopting and apologising for America's generational cultural problems though.

England and Ireland alike have more than enough of our own problems to deal with.

Randolph made a mess of the cross leading to the corner.

Randolph couldn't get it because Christie was there. He shouldn't have came for it, it wasn't on for him.

We're looking decent on the ball, Horgan looking sharp.

First thing I thought. Bad enough we are both in change but the fact we are wearing their traditional colour is shocking.

Won't happen but should be a rule about wearing your home kit unless told otherwise

I think you will find England has a huge problem with racism and the destruction of Africa
