This probably being the relevant bit? Basically backs up that only the Pulse will deliver it wirelessly for now. Perhaps some USB audio adaptors can be included for delivering 3D Audio via the USB?

The Pulse headset gets its audio via a usb dongle, as does pretty much every wireless headset.

    That's good so.

    Same.

Smyths reckon they are getting more stock this month, that's where I'm keeping an eye on.

The thing that turns me off that is having to plug a dongle type thing into the controller, if its the same one I'm thinking of.

Yeah, don't take my word for it, after linking you to Sony's official page and then still arguing that you're right...

I was unsure after reading it that they meant wireless via USB thought it meant wired USB. Sorry.

I feel like the Pulse headset is getting a bad rep here, but I have to say I find it great! I moved from the New Gold Headset on the 4 to this, and there is definitely a difference. Hard to explain but it just sounds better, and the Gold headset I found perfectly fine. Another difference is the Pulse headset is very comfortable. I sometimes forget I'm wearing it. For €100, I think it's great anyway. And even if it's a placebo, but I believe it being an official PS Product, it would be guaranteed compatible compared to other headsets, which no doubt work but can't be guaranteed I reckon.

Anyway, yeah, they're great. I recommend them, especially if you don't already own some expensive ones which are always bound to be better, Sony wouldn't make expensive tech cheap, especially when it comes to their accessories. Or I could be rambling...

Gonna pick up a charging dock as soon as they're available again, sick of swapping the charging cable and headset dongle around.

Nah, the Sony Gold, and now the Pulse is probably the best sub €100 headset. If it's like the Gold it does come with two downsides though, poor durability and poor battery life. If you can live with that go for it, if you can't you'll need to stump up a bit more for a more robustly constructed headset.

I found the New Gold good in both those areas, but all I could compare to at that stage were my old TB XP510's from the PS3 era, and they worked fine for years (got them for like €20 with a few trades ins and a drop in price during sale from €300 to €100). I thought the Gold were an improvement, and again the Pulse are an improvement again.

Saying that, the Gold were getting close to dying after 6-8 hours, whereas I've only seen the Pulse drop into 1 bar once during the last week or so. And they seem fairly sturdy, but I suppose only time will tell for both.

Yeah, finding the pulse headset great myself, especially for the price.

I only ever used the original PS4 headset, but not wirelessly and instead plugged into 3.5mm on my DS4, so no control over volume etc really.

One thing I find great (and it could have been there on previous headset) is the party chat/game sound mix that you have easy control over.

It's handy. Pity Sony are dicks and blocked it from use via usb for all non Sony headsets. As a work around on PS4 a lot of headsets used both usb and optical audio simultaneously.

Sony also blocked access to the highest quality codec for non Sony headsets on PS4.

Raging I never picked up a controller charging station, also need to pick up a second controller. Hopefully we start to see charging stations come back in

    https://m.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/8137391.htm

Good value for 12 euro. Come with 4 x magnetic usb c connectors, velcro cable tidies and a nice string pull black bag.

Dualsense Charging station has been changed as well from a helpful "December 2020" to "TBC 2020" which seeing as we're already in December, the last month of 2020 you'd wonder why they changed it.

The fact they changed something is good meaning they may have some update soon.

What are folks using the USB C port for? Seems like a waste for me, at the mo at least, so looking at getting an adapter to turn into another normal port, something like this I assume will work?

Well at least 2021 makes more sense. Looks like I'm boxing up my dual sense and gifting it to somebody then. Ah well.

I can live without it for now. Great battery in these new controllers, for now, anyway.

Most Galaxy phones come with that type of adapter in the box if you have a recent Galaxy phone.

I thought non official chargers are supposed to ruin the controller no? Always wanted a longer charger but didn’t want to end up with a faulty controller.

A 2nd controller is always handy.
If he plays with friends then a headset(may have one already).

I’d also suggest PS+ for online gaming, and with PS5 there are 5 to 6 A class games that come with it.
Normally around 60E, but it might be on special.

Normally that’s enough, there is also a free weeks trial of PSNow giving access to a large back catalog of games. But no rush into signing up for that, again around 60E a year.

Beyond two as mentioned above a 2nd controller, and a headset (wired plugs into the controller) there is not much more that jumps out.

Smyths have on their site now that expected between 12th and 17th Dec

I ordered mine from DID couple of weeks ago when it said they had it “In Stock” on their website. but I cancelled it today tho as rang them and said no ETA on when they’ll actually have any.

Decided to purchase the Steelseries P7 instead.

Argos have the media remotes back in stock.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,152 ✭✭✭✭Berty

Smyths dates of the 15th -20th for stock arrivals (accessories) is now 20-22nd December. Their website says order by midnight on the 20th for Christmas delivery so if you're hoping for something then it will come down to the wire, unless they restock early.

Also woke to an email from currys ireland telling me the dualsense charging station is available. It's not actually and it's also 39.99, 10 euro higher than MSRP.

  • Registered Users Posts: 54 ✭✭Sottol

I ended up ordering the media remote, the charging station and the pulse headset off eBay. With the amount bid and shipping from the U.K. it ended up costing a lot more but I wasn’t confident that Smyths would have them before Christmas as their due dates keep changing.

Right now the headset is 20th to 24th whereas yesterday it was 15th to 19th

Charging stations were in stock earlier on in Gamestop, didnt get a chance to post up but herself ordered one for me, click and collect in Clare Hall. It was cancelled obviously, raging.

One of the lads ordered one and its been dispatched already.

They must have removed the Charging stations from their website for now.

Thanks so much.. managed to order a set.. fingers crossed they arrive in time, yesterday was the last date for guaranteed delivery but it’s not a major thing if they don't arrive either.. delighted to be in with a chance of having them
