Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It really should be called by an independent doctor. I'd be more worried about negligence than cheating with an extra sub. Sport has to take second place here.

It's not fair for any employee to make that decision, even a club doctor.

Not to give out about this but it's hardly a trial if it's already happened in the PL? I would like to see something like Rugby's HIA being trialled though

I saw the headline yesterday and expected it would be about temporary subs while the player is given some kind of assessment.

Instead it's permanent subs when concussion is suspected:
The IFAB led trial is designed so that in the event of an actual or suspected concussion, the player in question should be permanently removed from the match to protect their welfare, but the player’s team should not suffer a numerical disadvantage. Protocol B allows for two permanent concussion subs per team in a game with no numerical or tactical disadvantage.

So other injuries will result in 'normal' substitutions, but possible concussions are outside that norm...up to two.

When I think about it, in a way, I don't see how it is (or should be) any different from any other injury-based substitution. If a player breaks a leg, why should that not be applied the same way as consussions?

Obviously there is the issue of people faking injury to fall under injury-based rather than tactics-based substitution, but that may be an issue with concussions anyway.

But even then, I'm not that familiar with it - has there been much/any exploitation of the temp sub protocol in rugby? One famous example we all know from the blood injury strand of it.

It's a trial because the rule hasn't been fully approved and introduced into the rules of the game yet.
